Split Fyre, the band, origination from Navarre, Ohio, has been in existence since early 1996.But the journey of the family based band began at a much earlier time. Split Fyre's founding members are brothers Jamie and Kevin Spencer. Jamie began his musical career at the early age of six. His first musical moment was performing a cover of Johnny-B-Good at this tender age of 6, at the local VFW, where his father, Wayne, was bartending. Brother Kevin also showed an interest in music at a young age, banging away his dreams of drumming on pots and pans. His enthusiasm for drumming progressed when he received his first drum set for Christmas, and has been playing ever since. |

Jamie and Kevin continued to progress musically, starting out playing cover songs, and eventually writing songs of their own. The band's first original song, ;Pontiac TA, was written by Jamie, about a '79 Trans Am that he owned, and loved. Jamie continued to write new songs, over thirty original works to date, including She's Always Here a song very close to the band, about their cousin, who died tragically from hodgkin's diesease at the age of sixteen. The band financed by the duo's parents, Wayne and Janice Spencer, started recording their first independant album in September, 1996. Almost one year later, the self titled album, Split Fyre was finished. Filled with enthusiastic dreams, Jamie and Kevin sent their album out to recording companies, with hopes of making it. For the time being, it remained only hopes, as no response came from the first album. |

The two brothers, with only eight months of professional musical training combined, added a third member to the group, Jason Carroll, Split Fyre's original bass player. Jason joined the duo, and was responsible for naming the group. However Jasons journey with Split Fyre was short-lived Jason died on August 19, 1998, during a tragic car accident. Jamie, and new wife Robyn, returned from their honeymoon to attend services for Jason. In the months that followed, Jamie and Kevin questioned the existance of Split Fyre. The brothers were set on giving in, and letting Split Fyre fade away. After further consideration, they knew that their best friend, and band member, Jason would have wanted them to continue. Split Fyre moved forward, with memories of Jason fueling their music. In July of 2003, over five years since the passing of Jason, Split Fyre entered an amateur audition. There, the brothers met with producer Bruce Goodwin, who decided to take a chance on the band. Split Fyre continued on to Alabama, where they recorded their second album, Corporate America. During this period the band also welcomed three new members, Jeff Shiflett (bass and rhythm guitar), Lee Eudy (lead guitar). Split Fyre now consisting of four members, with two albums under their belts, are heading for Nashville in May, with hopes of signing a recording contract, and continuing the Split Fyre dream. |
