Meow Kitties! On this page I would like to give you some ideas of the responsibilities of pet ownership. These are things that most loving pet owners know but many new owners may not.

Responsibility 1: If your pet is not spayed/neutered you will have to care for all of the kittens, at least until they are weaned.

Responsibility 2: Animals do NOT know what you are thinking and what you expect from them. You must show them, probably more than once.

Responsibility 3: Veterinarian care costs money. If you can't afford it then maybe you shouldn't get a pet.

Responsibility 4: Once in a while the pet will have "accidents" and miss the litter box. You should be willing to clean it up.

Responsibility 5: Pets take time. You need to spend time playing with them, feeding them, and loving them. Dogs need to be walked also.

Responsibility 6: Things around the house will get broken. Pets do not do this on purpose but accidents will happen.

Responsibility 7: Pets take food. You should be able to provide enough food for the pet.

Responsibility 8: Pets do bite and scratch. You should be sure to show children how to handle the animal in order for them to not get hurt.

Responsibility 9: Animals need love. You should give your pets plenty of love and attention.

Responsibility 10: Pets are not perfect. Please don't expect them to be. They don't things wrong intentionally, it's up to you to show them the right way.

I know these sound silly and simple to most animal lovers but the main reason for writing these is to let the soon to be animal lovers know what to expect. Hope it's helped!
