Civil Air Patrol | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Civil Air Patrol has, for more than 50 years, performed the missions Congress mandated in 1946: Aerospace Education, Cadet Programs, and Emergency Services. The Wright brothers flight started an era which kindled a love of flight that continues today. The second World War showed how important a role aviation would play in the future and the leaders of our country saw the importance of stimulating public interest in aerospace education. Civil Air Patrol, as the official Auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, was most suited to perform this function. Their efforts focused on two different audiences: CAP members and the general public. Members receive training and participate in a variety of activities ranging from missing aircraft searches to aerospace education presentations at local schools. |
