							Springfield Home School Band was started by Elizabeth Kailey in the Fall of 2003. Our first year began with only a few instrumentalists in each band, but such a dedicated bunch! At this time we have a beginner band and an intermediate band. Future classes may include jazz band, advanced band, and written and aural theory. During the school year, students are given the opportunity to perform as a group at least three times a year, participate in an all-day festival, and attend a professional concert in the area. In the '03-'04 school year, we watched the President's Own Marine Band at Mary Washington College. As an added bonus, last year, students built "conga" drums with real goat-skin drumheads.
