"D" is for Ducky (G)

Written for a challenge in which Ducky is something unexpected.
Donald “Ducky” Mallard peered out from behind the bushes. He knew the enemy spy was near, but he couldn’t see him from where he was hiding. Unfortunately, if he moved to where he could see the man more clearly he was likely to get shot by the other spy before he was able to get to safety.

How did he get in these things? He should be down in the lab, checking the items found on the gunman’s partner’s body. Instead, he had to be fool-hardy and follow the man who had survived the shoot-out, instead of staying with the corpse like he was supposed to do. There was a reason why agents moved out of the field when they were 40, and he was proving that all the reasons were true. Too slow, too rusty, too old. His partner Pasha always told him he was stubborn, and he had to admit that, well, yes he was.

Well, there was no getting past it. He was going to have to call for back-up. He pulled the silver pen from his pocket, opened it and whispered, “Open Channel D.”
