Black Sheep
We are the lost sheep
Kept away from the main flock,
Standing with the tax collectors,
Our friends among the publicans and sinners,
We never gather in a group in case the wolf comes for us.
Our shepherd watches over us and directs us to another field,
Moving us every day for safety,
But will not let the collie come help us.
If the wolf comes for us, it is up to each of us to survive.
We are the wolf in sheep's clothing
Standing near the others,
Trying to look like an innocent lamb
Instead of a killer of sheep,
Looking to see if a sheep wanders off,
So we can take the lost one as our food.
But the others are also in wolf's clothing,
So we circle each other warily
Ready to do battle, wolf to wolf.
We are the black sheep
Not admitted to by the farmer
But if we catch someone else's sheep for him
The farmer is happy.
If another wolf gets us, the farmer never knew us.
Our black color makes us undesirable
As we can not be changed to fit in.
Our wool will always be black.
So unless we can catch sheep for the shepherd
all that we are good for is meat for the table
If it weren't for the other sheep
We would be totally alone.
So we band together
Loners finding company in each other.
