The Official
Shining Vengeance
Homepage
So you come in here, look around, and say "Huh?!? Where's the music? Isn't this another music project?" To which I say "Nope. This project doesn't involve music for once." :)
What "Shining Vengeance" IS, though, is a program I wrote. A game, as a matter of fact. A shoot-em-up type of game.
Now before you get excited, must warn you that it's not really a high-gloss project. It was made with Visual BASIC. (I can hear the C++ crowd groaning already. ;) And I am not a graphic artist...everything in the game is based on lines and circles. And you'll have to get used to the control.
But now that I've badmouthed the game enough, let me get to the good stuff. It's still prety functional, as I wanted it to be a working game in every sense. Some things I can't change, but I've made it the best I can...which means there are better programmers out there. It gives a pretty good challenge, especially on faster speed settings. And I think some of you will find it fun to play around with for awhile.
So let's take a look around....
Here are a few shots of it in action. And for once, they're UPDATED! :D

Prelude to the madness. (...and often the unfortunate end to many a mission ;)

And awayyyyy we go...

As you can see, it doesn't take things long to get hectic...

D'oh, I died!!! (But thanks to Radiance (which is why the screen turned white), so did everything else. ;)
Curious now?
06/28/2002: New version available!
...and two years later, I think I've put the final touches on it. I THINK... ;)
Check the README file to see the changes. (Also comes with the program.)
Already got the full install once? Just get the EXE and put it into the directory (C:\Program Files\prjShining\, unless you changed it) over the old one instead. If not, grab the full game package HERE! You'll need WinZip or some other unzipping utility to unzip it. Put it all in a temporary folder, open the folder and click on Setup, follow the instructions, and then dump the temporary folder into the Recycle Bin. Finally, find Shining Vengeance on your Start menu (in Programs), and blast away! :)
NOTE: If you have a slower PC (300mHz or so), get this EXE after you install. The timing is quicker for the slower processors. (Or, if you can beat the regular release on Insane easily, try THIS one out! ;)
Critique is welcome. You won't hurt my feelings, because it's just a modest program after all. :)
