This book in very readable style traces Boswell from childhood to his marriage with his cousin, Margaret Montgomerie, subsequently referred to as “My esteemed spouse”
James Boswell: The Later Years– 1769-1795 Frank Brady, McGraw Hill Book Company This is the second and final volume in the series. Professor Brady has been an editor of the Boswell Papers for more than thirty years and succeeded Professor Pottle as Chairman of the Editorial Committee, Yale Boswell Editions.
A Life of James Boswell Peter Martin, Weidenfeld and Nicolson, London This is the most recent biography. An excellent one that is sympathetic to Boswell, pointing out his strengths and weaknesses.
