Dragon Ball was the first manga and anime installment of the ever-continuing Dragon Ball saga (well, maybe not ever-continuing now since Dragon Ball GT, which was not created by Akira Toriyama by the way, ended I think in November '97).   Dragon Ball has the least fighting out of the three Dragon Ball series.   Most of the fighting is done at the Tenkaichi Budoukai Martial Arts Tournaments.  The manga was first created in 1985 and was first seen in the Japanese magazine, Weekly Shonen Jump.   A year later, due to the popularity of the manga, The Dragon Ball anime aired on Japanese television on FUJI TV.  (More about the history of Dragon Ball will be posted on the upcoming "History of Dragon Ball" section which will be found on this page.)
      The story starts out (actually the collecting of dragonballs) when Bulma's "dragonball radar" locates Gokou's 4 star dragonball.   Desperate for her ridiculous wish, a boyfriend, Bulma heads towards Gokou's house (actually his dead adoptive granfather's, Gohan).  Gokou was out fishing (without a rod) at the time.  When he heads back home he meets Bulma along the way.   When Gokou encounters Bulma, in her jeep, he thinks that the vehicle is some kind of monster and attacks it (with Bulma still inside).   Bulma jumps out of her vehicle. And I forgot the rest about the beginning. I really haven't seen all the DB episodes but I'll try to get some summaries on the internet.
