Sasami is the most level headed and "sane" girl in the whole group. She may be a child, but she displays a level of maturity unequaled to any character. I find it a "bit" funny that while she is normal like Tenchi, she does not share in the "victim syndrome" the other normal characters (Tenchi and Kiyone) share. Sasami is an excellent cook and only seeks to ensure the happiness of her friends and family.

Sasami is Ayeka's full blooded sister, and thus is a Jurain Princess as well. She doesn't seem to really care too much for her home, and only really wants to be around her sister. After all, she tagged along with her on the way to Earth. Despite her appearance, there is much more to Sasami than meets the eye.

When Ryoko attacked planet Jurai 700 years ago, a ship crashed into the building where the Jurain tree fleet was kept. Sasami happened to be in there at the same time, and the shockwave caused her to fall. She died, but her blood mixed with that of the water flow to Tsunami's tree. Tsunami felt Sasami's pain, and merged with her. When that happened Sasami came back alive, but she and Tsunami were the same and Tsunami disappeared (because she WAS Sasami after that! No one knew!). In times of great stress Tsunami can "take over" and fight as Tsunami. Whenever Sasami has a reflection in the water, Tsunami is the reflection rather than Sasami. The whole reason Tsunami looks as she does is because when she fused with Sasami, she was given the image of what Sasami would look like in the future. When Sasami is old enough, she and Tsunami will become one soul. They have the same body, but Sasami is too young to merge her soul with that of Tsunami's.

The mark on Sasami's head has great importance in the Jurain culture. It is said that someone with such a mark is blessed by Tsunami herself. Many people, like Sasami's mother Misaki for instance, use make up to put artificial marks on their head. Sasami originally had a double circle mark, but after fusing with Tsunami it changed to the double triangle. It times where Tsunami is needed, the symbol appears to glow.

Sasami has concurring nightmares throughout the OVA, and they mostly seem to revolve her being separated from her friends. In them a mysterious women, later revealed to be Tokimi, tries to take Tenchi away from her. These nightmares are not set in stone, Sasami would do anything to make sure no one would actual do this. We will find out if she is able to succeed when they create a third OVA. She originally also had some Jurain abilities prior the Ryoko attack, but it seems she lost these in the attack.
