Like so many others around the world, we at Prosperity Group International have carefully ascertained the devastation caused by the earthquake and tsunami that has hit many parts of Asia and east Africa. Since its inception, Prosperity Group International has been headed by its visionary chairperson, Michael Edwards. The organization is governed by a body of Trustees, with the help of an Executive Committee, as well as a patron and an Advisory Board.
Because of the public generous support Prosperity Group has been able to respond immediately. But we continue to need your support in the coming months as we provide relief for victims these disasters. Additionally, donations from you and other generous supporters will assure that we meet the demand of collecting and supplying more than 6 million units of blood for over 3,000 hospitals around the affected areas. Prosperity Group International is collecting funds to bring relief to the victims of the tsunami at a time when a national disaster has been declared.
These funds will be used to buy whatever necessary according to the requirements at ground zero. Two thirds (2/3) of the coastline is hit hardest while 1 in every 20 people in this island of 19 million has been made homeless. We have just launched a program to help those who have lost their homes. It is estimated around 10,000 homes have been badly damaged. Most of those are homes of poor fishermen, who have no insurance. It is estimated to cost around $1500.00 to build a basic house. So please let people you know who would like to help about this matter. We encourage you to get together and sharing the cost of building a house for a family in need. We will send the updates and pictures of the family as we progress and when the house is finished your name will be imprinted on the house to also encourage more people to assist. Donors looking to support Prosperity Group International need not worry about where their donations go, all money contributed goes fully to charitable purposes, with no administrative withholdings. In accordance with Prosperity group guidelines, funds are distributed based on the degree of need and the urgency of the situation.
Upon the receipt of the completed Donation form, we will process and advice you on how you are to send the payment to us.
Thank you for helping us to help the helpless. May the blessing of the Almighty abide with you always.

NEW YORK - One was fat, flashy and liked by fellow cops, a rough-and-tumble detective with a storied career despite having relatives in the Mob. The other was skinnier and quieter, and had spent years in the nerve center of Mafia murder investigations.
Law-enforcement veterans puzzled over the lives and careers of men who won medals, fame and respect while carrying out what prosecutors called a sickening betrayal of public trust.
Eppolito, 56, is the greater enigma. The son, grandson and nephew of Gambino crime family members entered the police department in 1969 and quickly developed a reputation as a cops' cop, a tough guy with a knack for knocking heads and solving difficult crimes.
"He was a hard charger and he made lots of arrests," said one retired detective, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation. "He was a rough-and-tumble, roll-on-the-ground kind of street cop."
In his 1992 book "Mafia Cop: The Story of an Honest Cop Whose Family Was the Mob," Eppolito described himself as the department's 11th most-decorated officer.
At a bail hearing Friday in Las Vegas, where the former partners both retired in the early 1990s, Eppolito's lawyer offered a list of awards, medals and citations won by the former detective first-grade, one of the department's most coveted ranks.
Some investigators believe Eppolito built his impressive record by using Mafia connections to gather inside information on crimes.
But others familiar with the case say Eppolito's Mob ties cannot explain his long history of tough investigations and arrests in some of Brooklyn's grittiest neighborhoods.
"He was really perceived as a great street cop," said another investigator familiar with the case, also speaking on condition of anonymity. "I've seen him put together cases that were fairly complex and highly circumstantial."
Caracappa, 63, cut a lower profile than Eppolito. But the skinny detective known as "The Stick" had access to reams of confidential information as a founding member of the Organized Crime Homicide Unit in the department's Major Case Squad.
"He knew what the FBI (news - web sites) was doing, he knew what the DEA was doing," the second investigator said. "Everything was funneled through there."
Casso paid $65,000 in 1990 for the two detectives to pull over Gambino captain Eddie Lino in their unmarked car with flashing lights and kill him for a suspected attempt on Casso's life, prosecutors charge.
They grabbed another mob associate from a meeting in a park, stuffed him in their trunk and delivered him to Casso for torture, interrogation and execution, according to court documents and interviews with investigators.
Eppolito and Caracappa are each charged with eight murders, two attempted murders, murder conspiracy, obstruction of justice, drug distribution and money laundering, and could be sentenced to life in prison if convicted.

Byrd, a psychotherapist who teaches kissing, thinks Americans should use their lips to speak to their sweethearts instead of their wallets.
"A lot of people say, 'Am I putting too much tongue? Is there too much nibbling? Is there too much mashing of lips? Well, all of those things can get in the way. More importantly what gets in the way is there's no connection. It's kind of a dead fish kiss that's the real bummer," she said.
Byrd, author of "Kissing School: Seven Lessons on Love, Lips and Lifeforce," has instructed 400 couples in one-day "playshops." Her advice? Breathe, concentrate and engage "the electricity in your body."
Or more precisely: "Cultivate the art of the merging of the lips and the merging of the heart and the merging of the connection with your partner."
Sound a little advanced? Step one: Relax.
"Whatever that message is, it needs to be carried into the quality of the kiss," she said.
Step three: Forget multitasking; pay attention.
"Focusing is essential and it means all of you, right down to the curling of your toes needs to be engaged in this," she said.
If after all that, the kiss fails to deliver, maybe you should find another Valentine. A bad kiss, Byrd said, "foretells the kind of disconnect that might be happening should the relationship continue."

-- A lone gunman opened fire with an assault rifle Sunday inside a crowded mall in upstate New York, wounding one person before running out of ammunition and being subdued by employees, authorities said.
..."Everyone was running and screaming. Then I heard the shots," witness Heather Craig told Fox News. "People were running over people. Other people were just standing there dumbfounded."
All mall entrances remained blocked off by police Sunday evening.
Michael Bovalino, chief executive officer of the mall's parent company, said crisis counselors would be available for mall employees Monday.
"Our main concern at this point is the well being of those that were injured," Bovalino said in a statement.

Company head Frank Crouwel said his firm expected anything from one to three million people to log onto its specially-created website -- www.royalweddingcam.com -- to watch the event.
Media outlets have been offering up to 5,000 pounds (7,300 euros, 9,300 dollars) to local hotels and other buildings to set up cameras on roofs.
Porter said the 32-year-old woman could face a misdemeanor charge of false report of a crime or a felony charge of false statements. The misdemeanor carries a penalty of up to a year of jail time and the felony carries a maximum of 5 years of prison.
The charges potentially would stem from Wilbanks reporting her kidnapping story on the phone to Duluth Police Chief Randy Belcher, Porter said, adding that he had no jurisdiction over the woman's 911 call to Albuquerque authorities.
"I'm glad that she's alive and OK, but it was a dirty trick," said Louise McCoy, waiting in line at the Duluth post office Saturday the same day Wilbanks was supposed to be married in a lavish ceremony that included 14 bridesmaids and 14 groomsmen.
More than 100 officers led a search that involved several hundred volunteers, including many wedding guests and members of the bridal party.
A Wisconsin college student who faked her own abduction last year and turned up curled in a fetal position in a marsh was ordered to repay police at least $9,000 for their search. She pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of obstructing officers and was given three years' probation.

Then, on Feb. 29 in the town Canaveras, near Cuenca, about 90 miles southeast of Madrid, police stopped a van headed for the capital and found 506 kilograms (1,111 pounds) of chloratite, an explosive similar to ammonium nitrate. When the van was pulled over, the driver told police that he was ETA and that they should be careful because the van was filled with explosives. He also told them he was following another explosives-laden car that was serving as a scout, warning of possible police activity ahead. As it turned out, that car had been involved in a severe road accident. Police quickly cordoned off that car. In it they found 30 kilograms (66 pounds) of dynamite. Both men were in their early 20s.
Finally, Spanish police learned that ETA planned to blow up eight electrical stations around Madrid on the eve of the wedding of Crown Prince Philippe May 22, hoping to black out the weddings.

BEIRUT, Lebanon - Lebanon plunged into deep mourning and put its army on alert against violence Tuesday, a day after a massive bomb killed former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri and raised fears that Lebanon might revert to the political violence of its 1975-90 civil war.
Slideshow: Bomb Kills Former Lebanese PM
The dead included Hariri and seven of his bodyguards, crushed and burned in their heavily armored cars by the force of the blast, which police estimated at about 660 pounds of TNT.
A billionaire businessman who made his fortune in construction in Saudi Arabia, Hariri was a symbol of Lebanon's rebirth. Under his governments, European investment and tourists returned to Lebanon.
After leaving office, Hariri moved toward the opposition that has long pushed for an end to Syrian interference in Lebanon His death deprives the political scene of an influential voice of moderation and skillful builder of coalitions.
Also in France, Lebanon's most prominent exile, former army commander Gen. Michel Aoun, said Tuesday that he suspects Syria was behind the assassination.
The Syrians "totally control the country," Aoun said on France-Info radio. "Nothing moves without it being controlled by the Syrians."
There have been no credible claims of responsibility. A previously unknown group, Support and Jihad in Syria and Lebanon, claimed in a video broadcast on Al-Jazeera television that it had carried out the bombing, saying it was a suicide operation.
Justice Minister Adnan Addoum said responsibility claims could be an attempt "to mislead the investigation."

SAN DIEGO - Marine Cpl. David Antonio Garcia stood on the deck of an aircraft carrier Thursday and was sworn in as an American citizen  after already serving under the U.S. flag in Iraq (news - web sites).
The citizenship ceremony was one of dozens of events held nationwide to celebrate Veterans Day, a holiday that has taken on added meaning in the last three years after wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Veterans were honored Thursday at ceremonies big and small: an event recognizing a teenage Purple Heart recipient in South Carolina, a parade on the streets of Manhattan, a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Ceremony attended by President Bush (news - web sites).
The war in Iraq was a dominant theme at the ceremonies. There are about 142,000 U.S. troops in Iraq; the American death toll stands at more than 1,140.
"We are standing up for what is right. This is our next greatest generation."
At the ceremony aboard the USS Midway, U.S. District Judge William Hayes administered the oath of citizenship, noting that many of the troops were from countries that deny individual liberties and had left behind families who "cannot know what joy you are experiencing today."
"You as representatives of the armed forces know above all, like most citizens, that freedom is not free," Hayes said. "Thank you for your sacrifice."
Legal permanent residents of the United States had been allowed to join the military and seek citizenship after three years of active service.

More Women Over 40 Giving Birth These Days.
Fri Nov 26, 2004
By KIMBERLY HEFLING, Associated Press Writer
EVANSVILLE, Ind. - At 63, many of Judith Cates' peers are contemplating retiring to Florida. She's busy attending pizza parties with her 5-year-old twin daughters and picking up toys. Cates is one of a growing number of women over 40 to give birth.
A report released Tuesday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (news - web sites) found the number of such women exceeded 100,000 for the first time in 2003. It also found there were 1,512 first-time mothers between the ages of 45 and 54 last year.
Cates gave birth when she was 57 even older than a New York woman with newborn twins. A 59-year-old Georgia woman is pregnant with twins and due in December.
As medicine has advanced, so has the ability of older women to conceive. "I'm concerned about when they get older, having to deal with the loss of their parents at an early age," Wells said.
The Cateses opted to leave that in God's hands when they decided to try to conceive three years into their marriage.
"My mom lived to be 83. It was a wonderful life," Judith Cates said. "I pray to God I will live to be her age and have that much time with my girls and my husband. That's something that nobody knows."
Cates conceived through in-vitro fertilization after several attempts and thousands of dollars. She and her husband cried the day they first saw the hearts beat on a monitor in her doctor's office.
Still, being pregnant at a late age presented some challenges.
One day, Cates left the doctor's office in tears after she heard someone say she looked awfully old to be pregnant.
For the first three months of her pregnancy, she had to have daily injections to prevent a miscarriage, and she was put on bed rest the last few months. But Cates avoided many other complications associated with pregnancy among older women, and Margaret Jan Marie and Carli Sue Morgan were born at nearly full-term on Dec. 12, 1998.
"They were healthy, just perfect when they came out," she said. "We were so lucky there."
Carl Cates, who works two jobs while his wife stays home with the girls, said parenting the twins is "an experience we enjoy 100 percent, if not more."
The family stays active, going swimming almost daily, taking frequent walks in the park and spending many evenings playing games together.
Then there's nap time. Neither parent hesitates to rest when the girls do.
with the help of fertility treatments are generally glad they did.
The question is whether 20 years from now, people will view modern fertility treatments that have allowed older women to get pregnant as a good thing, Hansen said.
"The long term has yet to be defined," Hansen said.

DETROIT General Motors (GM) has killed plans for a new line of rear-wheel drive passenger cars slated to reach North American showrooms in 2008, in large part to free up resources to bring its next generation of large pickups and sport-utility vehicles to market quicker.
The automaker is under severe pressure to streamline after announcing last week its 2005 earnings would fall as much as 80% below previous estimates. (Photo gallery: GM under pressure)
The news comes after GM reassured investors, suppliers and Wall Street analysts last week that future car and truck programs would remain on schedule despite a new cost-cutting effort.
The rear-drive "global architecture" dubbed Zeta was to provide the basic underpinnings for an array of cars and crossover vehicles for markets around the world. It will continue to be the basis for products sold in regions outside North America.

The weakened resolution was sure to be opposed by the United States, which insists Iran is trying to make atomic weapons in violation of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty and should be taken before the Security Council for the consideration of sanctions.
Anticipating that Iran would honor its Nov. 7 deal on full suspension, France, Britain and Germany had drafted a relatively mild resolution to take much of the heat off Iran after more than 1 1/2 years of IAEA scrutiny and diminish the threat of referral to the Security Council.
But Iran came to Thursday's opening of the IAEA meeting with demands that it be allowed to operate 20 centrifuges which spin gas into fuel-level or weapons-grade uranium.
The compromise being weighed by the Iranian government foresees it accepting that the centrifuges are part of the freeze, diplomats said.
But instead of Iran have to accept IAEA seals on the equipment, the centrifuges could be monitored for inactivity by agency cameras, said a diplomat familiar with Iran's nuclear program, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Social workers must have services to do their job, and the government must budget for the social services offered through the Family Court. Jailing dead-beat dads is not the solution to the problem. Why is it necessary to commit crime in order to pay child support? The boy will still care for his mother, and this is the reason why he kept the secret. He did not want to hurt his mother. Where was his father? Were the two women lesbians? If so, the neighbour is like a "mother", and had informal rights to romp or play with her "adopted" son, and teach him the meaning of "touch/passion" to a certain degree. Was any one violated or offended? The meaning of the acts cause the damage.Later on, he would have handled psychological matters for himself when he is ready.
Separate father and child too, in the best interest of the child! Some fathers just happen to impregnate a woman, and was not prepared for fatherhood. Meanwhile, the United States became the latest nation to condemn the apparent murder of Margaret Hassan, the head of CARE International's Iraq operations who was seized by unknown attackers on October 19 while on her way to work.
"We strongly condemn the abduction and murder of this prominent humanitarian," White House spokesman Scott McClellan said in a statement. "Her death is a great loss to the Iraqi people and the world."
The body of a blonde woman with her legs and arms cut off and throat slit was found.

Pelosi found guilty of 2nd-degree murder.
Dec 14, 2004
BY ROBIN TOPPING
STAFF WRITER
December 14, 2004
In the end, Daniel Pelosi may have convicted himself.
The compulsively talkative Manorville electrician, who insisted on testifying at his murder trial, gave jurors a five-hour look at someone they concluded was the lying, money-hungry killer portrayed by the prosecution.
"I think the defendant's testimony was disastrous for him," prosecutor Janet Albertson said in a news conference after she spoke with jurors who found Pelosi, 42, guilty yesterday of second-degree murder in the 2001 beating death of millionaire Theodore Ammon.
"The defendant was just completely unbelievable and unconvincing," and jurors saw "an anti-social criminal person who takes no responsibility for anything he does," Albertson said.
The defendant's testimony gave jurors a chance to see how he was motivated by money, Albertson said. Pelosi never denied burning through huge amounts of money given to him by Generosa Ammon at blackjack and roulette tables, while she was dying of cancer. Instead, he insisted on the stand, she had wanted him to "get away."
As she was leaving the courthouse, juror Rosemarie Brady said, "We're glad it's over. We feel good about the verdict ... It was an emotional time for all of us and we just want to get home and be with our families."

CELEBRATE A DAY FOR LOVERS!
SEATTLE (AP) -- This Valentine's Day, forget the flowers and chocolate. Cherie Byrd has a better idea: Learn to pucker up.
"We're so money-oriented, so consumer-oriented that our relationships get drawn into that quality as well," she said. "This is one day when we might want to step back from this sense of possession and ask ourselves: What is the real gift we want to offer our beloved?"
For Byrd, the answer is clear: A smooch. And with this gift, it's definitely the thought that counts.
"Slowing way down is really helpful, getting really focused, really feeling into your own heart," she said.
Step two: Make eye contact and deliver a message -- perhaps of love or tenderness.

Recent incidents steer suspicion toward ETA
Suspects linked to group arrested with explosives.
Updated: 6:57 p.m. ET March 12, 2004
On Dec. 17, there was a shootout near the town of La Coruna, Spain, in which a policeman was killed and an ETA operative severely wounded. Police had stopped a car at a checkpoint and found 132 kilograms of explosives 290 pounds and were told by the two men arrested that the ETA planned to construct one 90-kilogram 200-pound explosive plus additional explosives for an attack on train stations and shopping malls, all planned for Dec. 24, Christmas Eve. The two men, who admitted to ETA ties, were 24 and 26 years old. The plan for the train station attack called for multiple simultaneous attacks on the Chamartin train station in Madrid, which was not among the stations attacked Thursday.

suitcase and found a bomb. The police then searched the rest of the train and found another suitcase bomb, although this one was missing a fuse. After interrogating the first man, they were able to arrest a second man in Hernani, near San Sebastian. The two suitcases contained 28 kilograms (about 62 pounds) of titadyne, an industrial form of dynamite. Both men identified themselves as ETA. The first man was armed.
ETA timeline
Euskadi ta Askatasuna (ETA) is fighting for an independent Basque state in northern Spain and southwestern France.
The group has killed nearly 850 people since 1968, typically using car bombs or shootings. The number of ETA killings had been falling, from 23 in 2000 to three in 2003.
Spain, the United States and the European Union have listed ETA as a terrorist organization. Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar, who survived an ETA attack while he was opposition leader in 1995, made eliminating the group a top priority.
ETA has been under pressure in recent years with 179 suspected members detained during 2003 and a total of 650 suspects arrested since 2000, mostly in Spain and France.
The two men ultimately told police that their entire load was intended for a car bomb, which would have created a crater 100 feet across and could have killed hundreds.
