Combaticons

Five military-based Decepticons. They consist of Onslaught (leader, missile trailor/robot/assault vehicle), Blast Off (space shuttle/robot), Vortex (helicopter/robot), Swindle (jeep/robot), and Brawl (tank/robot). They have the ability to combine to form Bruticus (robot).

Cartoon Bio (US):

The Combaticons were actually created by Starscream while he was in exile from the Decepticon ranks, due to Megatron's loss of patience. Starscream was banished to a remote island and there he discovered the remains of several World War II vehicles. As he uncovered 5 vehicles he glared at a tank and said "This one reminds me of that loud mouth Blitzwing." The brilliant idea came to him of creating them into his own forces to battle the Autobots and Megatron. So he traveled to Cybertron and stole five personality components to install into the vehicles, thus recreating them into his personal army, to use against Megatron. Megatron discovered this and battled Starscream and his troops. The Combaticons proved to be excellent warriors and combined to form the gestalt Bruticus. Even with the help of Devastator, Bruticus could not be stopped and it looked as if Starscream would come out the victor. However, the Stunticons arrive at the last minute and defeated Bruticus as Menasor and Starscream and the Combaticons were banished to an asteroid.

The Combaticons proved to be just as rebellious as their creator, and resented Starscream. He couldn't stand them either and fled, while the vengeful Combaticons traveled to Cybertron to plot against all who they believed caused them harm. Starscream traveled to Cybertron as well, and was imprisoned along with Shockwave by the Combaticons. Megatron arrived on Cybertron and freed the two. He accepted Starscream back in the Decepticons, for his help was needed to stop the out-of-control Bruticus. During this internal battle, The Autobots were also battling Megatron and followed him to Cybertron where they found an out of control Bruticus.

Starscream volunteered the information on Bruticus's weak points with Megatron and Optimus Prime. Together three transformers aimed their weapons at 3 spots on the back of a berzerk Bruticus who was using the gun mode of Shockwave to fire at everything and anything it his way. As Megatron, Starscream and Optimus Prime fired simultaneously and hit the targets, Bruticus was then deactivated. Although Prime and Megaton agreed that Bruticus was far too dangerous and should be destroyed, he was later reactivated brought back under control -- Megatron's control.

After the Combaticons and Starscream returned under the leadership of Megatron, three college students are forced to build something as a science project, and they end up creating B.O.T., a primitive robot. Meanwhile, the Protectobots were fighting the Combaticons, who were on a rampage. They ended up destroying all the Combaticons except Swindle, who escaped. Swindle sold the spare parts of his comrades for money, but when he told Megatron what happened, Megatron got angry and had a bomb placed in Swindle's head that would blow up in a set amount of time if Swindle failed to rebuild the Combaticons. In the meantime, the three students need a computer board to make their robot work. They think they find what they need when they pick up Brawl's personality board. After inserting the board into the robot, the robot goes berserk and rampages through the city. Swindle rebuilds the Combaticons, but without Brawl's personality board they can't form Bruticus. Swindle eventually finds B.O.T. and restores Brawl's brain.

Blast-Off discovers a wimpy alien using a very powerful cannon: a bazooka-device which shoots green explosive crystals. The crystals are "shed" from the body of Chaos, a giant humanoid monster that Kup met ages ago. Galvatron goes to Chaos's planet and builds a giant gun (with which he plans to destroy Cybertron). Kup and some other Autobots stop him, and Kup turns the gun on his old enemy Chaos.

Comic Bio (US):

Megatron led the Combaticons to steal the hydrocline, a device capable of producing cheap energy, from a human facility where Ethan Zachary worked. Optimus Prime used a cerebro shell of Bombshell's to learn of this and led the Protectobots to meet and engage the Decepticons. When they met, the Combaticons formed Bruticus and the Protectobots merged into Defensor. A huge battle was about to be fought before Ethan Zachary suggested a computer simulation to see who would get the hydrocline, without destroying anything in real life. The Protectobots defeated the Combaticons by helping the natives of the simulated world. However, Megatron cheated and Optimus Prime was forced to cause the loss of innocent computer simulated life to defeat Megatron. Optimus Prime then ordered Zachary to destroy him and the Protectobots took away their fallen leader.

Megatron, not content with Prime's death, started to develop mental instability and crushed the head of Brawl in a fit of rage.

The Combaticons later met the Protectobots who were carrying Blaster as prisoner and defeated them, in a spectacular combiner robot battle. However, Blaster outwitted Bruticus and used Blast Off to give some human children, who had helped him, a ride. Blast Off was later rescued by the Constructicons during a major battle on the Earth's moon.

Years later, the Decepticon Warworld was attacked by Cybertronians led by Jhiaxus. The Combaticons were apparently killed attempting to repel the invaders.
