They were first used in a raid for the gas rheanimum, whose properties made any metal it came into contact with ultra- dense. Using blades capable of slicing through metal with ease, and given the ability to aim them with incredible precision, Rotor Force proved itself extremely dangerous. The raid, in any case, was successful.
Later, when the Cybertronian commander Jhiaxus attempted to exterminate both the Decepticons and the Autobots, Megatron and Optimus Prime agreed to combine their forces against him. During the ground battle, in which they fought each other in relatively close quarters on Earth, Rotor Force was responsible for numerous kills. Two of the members, Manta Ray and Leadfoot, found themselves enjoying working alongside the Autobots, Grimlock in particular, whose skill and courage they admired.
When the Cybertronian troops no longer represented the main danger, the Earth-bound Transformers quickly created a defensive perimeter to protect them against the Swarm. Grimlock was placed in charge of the Autobot contingent, while Razorclaw was in charge of the Decepticons. As the Swarm approached, Grimlock wanted to delay activation of the force field in order to catch the Swarm in it. Razorclaw called for field activation before Grimlock did, but Manta Ray waited for Grimlock's signal to turn on the field.
Furious, and realizing that Manta Ray had disobeyed his Decepticon superior and followed an Autobot's lead instead, Razorclaw transformed into lion mode and leaped towards him for the kill. He never made it. Leadfoot had anticipated Razorclaw's move and with a swift toss of his rotor blade, had cut off Razorclaw's head. He then responded to the confused Manta Ray with, "Hey, no need to thank me. We Autobots have stick together... right?" Clearly, he had made his decision to defect. Presumably, the other Decepticons didn't react to this because at this point, the Swarm broke past the force field and attacked.
There is no evidence either way as to whether or not either faction of Rotor Force survived the battle with the Swarm.
