The bear’s kingdom is Animalia. The bear’s phylum is chordate. The bear’s class is Mammalia. The bear’s order is Carnivora. The bear’s family is Ursidae. Bears are usually solitary animals which only come together to mate. They generally have about 2-3 cubs in their litter. The cubs are born totally defenseless against the outside world. Cubs stay with their mother for 1-2 seasons. Bears are not truly hibernating as their body temperature only lowers by a few degrees and the heart rate drops a little bit plus their metabolism is functiong.. When bears are hibernating they do not defecate or eat. There are 8 species of bear which are The Black Bear, The Sun Bear, The Polar Bear, The Brown Bear, The Asiatic Black Bear, The Sloth Bear, The Spectacled Bear, and The Panda Bear. Bears live all over the northern hemisphere and extend into some parts of the southern hemisphere. Most bears have the capability to climb trees and swim well. Some bears can reach a maximum speed of 35 miles per hour. Most of the species of bears are omnivores, they eat plants and animals. They are capable of eating honeycomb, roots fruits, insects, fish, and other small mammals. |
