The true story is a lot longer, and darker.
Everyone has heard of the "witch-hunts" where witches got burned and drowned many, many years ago. If a woman chose to live on her own without getting married, she was often branded a "witch". When people got sick, it was the work of "witches".
The truth is, Christianity wanted to be the dominant religion. They wanted to change the minds of all people to believe in their ways. In their bible it says witches are bad. They set about condemning witches. They put their holy day on December 25th, to cover up a witch's holy day. They made it known that halloween was "evil", when in reality all it is a witch's holy day.
They spread the word that witchcraft is evil and that anyone who practices it should be condemned.
The fact is, witches do exist. They don't fly around on broomsticks or use toad's eyes however! They are called Pagans or Wiccans and work with nature. They do nothing evil and are generally very kind people. Hurting people goes against everything they believe in. Many of them follow Christianity and other religions at the same time. They are not evil! Christians just want you to think that!
Research anything on Paganism and you'll only find positive things written by them, the real ones anyway. If you research "witches" then you'll find articles on scary women with green noses covered in boils, which is nonsence.
The Basic truth website is aimed at telling the truth. This is it. It is not a belief or a theory, it is the truth. Forget those fairy-tales. That's just kid's stuff.
