Loneliest Soul

Heavy veils of purest snow falling tonight
Must herald the loneliest man's plight
What poetic soul may inspire such beauty
Which solitude at length bleaches icy white

I believe once one's loneliness is known
Then in spirit no more is he truly alone
Oh Winter would you but whisper his name
Between the howls as your wind is blown

What warmth rises from the mum tea I brew
Which to him I would bring had I but a clue
Where this recluse may live in silence
For he I would invite into a Realm for Two

Such are my fantasies and I utter a sigh
My heart falters as my dim house draws nigh
For who but I am the loneliest person
And who seeks me under this frigid sky
