Welcome to Stacia's
Fiber Place on The Web
I'm really just getting started on this website, but in the future, I'll have more information about my spinning and knitting projects.  My husband Alan does woodworking and knotting, so don't be surprised if you see some of his stuff on here, too.

Be sure to check out Alan's weather page at the link below -- it's pretty cool!

I like to do small projects like hats, scarves, mittens, socks and bags.  I get bored with big projects like afghans (although I do make them for gifts occasionally), and I HATE finishing sweaters!

I love texture and color.  Fall colors are my favorites!  I dye wool sometimes, but usually I work with natural colors.  I like to dye with drink mix when I make gifts for children.

I used to get most of my wool from Ebay, because I couldn't find it locally, although there are lots of local sheep.  I asked around and found that most of the farmers in these parts burn their wool!  What a waste!  I offered to buy some fleeces, and to my surprise, the farmers told me to take what I wanted  -- I was saving them the hassle of getting rid of it! I've gotten some great fleeces this way -- Jacobs, Romneys and Border Leicesters, mostly.  One lady who breeds Jacobs runs a summer camp for girls on her farm.  She gives me fleeces in return for doing spinning workshops with the girls.  Good deal!  Of course, there are lots of unusable fleeces, too, but a good one is usually a great one!

I'll continue to update this sight to share my fiber stories and techniques.  I live in town, so I've had to adapt my ways for the area where I live.  My neighbors are close and I've got limited space to work with wool storage and processing.

Check back to see what's new!
Of course, Jet has to oversee all of the stages of any project!  Click the links below to meet Jet and her Angora sisters.
