At the back of the classroom Faith stretched and then yawned, God she  was bored. Up at the front, revelling in her role as teacher, Buffy was droning on about the responsibility of a Slayer and the twenty or  so would be slayers were drinking it in like a drunk would a bottle of whiskey.

"A Slayer must be ready for anything," Buffy told them gravely. Please no more, Faith begged silently and groaned. A little too loudly it seemed because Buffy stopped and looked at her, a look of  annoyance marring her pretty face. "Have you something to add Faith?" she asked as all the faces in the room turned to look at her.Faith fidgeted under the attention. "Er…no B, nothing really."The blond slayer glared. "Ok then," she said, "as I was saying a Slayer must…"

For another half hour the lesson continued and by the time it ended Faith was ready to kill someone or at least hurt them very badly. Why she had to sit through these lessons she had no idea but Buffy insisted. So far she had agreed but she couldn't see that happening for much longer.

Since Sunnydale had been swallowed in the destruction of the Hellmouth and they had moved to San Bernardino there had been a serious lack of fun. The town was a little bigger than Sunnydale but it must be the dullest place in America. So dull in fact that even the vampires avoided it. At first it had been ok but things took a turn for the worse after Wood and Buffy had got into a blazing row and the ex-principal had left.

Faith had thought that it could be different for her with Wood but she had been wrong. They'd had some good times and he was a good man but a bit too pedestrian for her. He had asked her to go with him and she'd considered it for a moment but her place was with Buffy, at least for the time being. She did sometimes wonder what it might have been like if she had gone with him but she knew she'd made the right decision.

The young girls were all filing past, some of them looking at her curiously but most tried their best to ignore her. Faith knew that they talked about her behind her back but she didn't care. Let them have their fun, it would end soon enough. As Buffy approached she stood up.
"Another interesting lesson again B," she said with a smile.
Buffy snorted. "I could see that you were enjoying it, between the yawns that is."
"Oh come on B, you know I've never been one for all this learning crap. Fight hard and play hard that's me."
"Mmm, I know."
So that was it. Faith laughed. "You don't trust me with them do you? You think I'll lead them astray into a life of debauchery or worse."
"Of course not Faith," Buffy denied a little too quickly.
Faith laughed and then shrugged. "I can't deny it, that could very well happen. But I'm dying here B, there's no fun, no action and I'm fit to pop. If you know what I mean."
Buffy blushed, she did then. "What do you suggest then?"
"Let's get out of here for the night or the weekend even. We could be in L.A. by nightfall. A few drinks, some dancing" she smiled wickedly "maybe a man or two. We've been cooped up here for far too long."
"Look Faith that sounds great, well the dancing does anyway but I can't I'm just too busy. There are new girls coming in all the time" that was an exaggeration "and I have to be here." Faith couldn't stop herself from pouting. "But you could still go, a few nights of fun would do you good."
The dark haired slayer looked up her pout replaced with a grin. "Are you sure?"
"Yeah, as you said you're not much for learning so you go and have a good time, just don't get yourself arrested. If we have to bail you out of jail Giles will not be pleased."
"Thanks a lot B, I'll be good," she promised and was gone leaving Buffy alone wondering if she had done the right thing.

Though she longed to go to L.A. and have some fun Faith didn't particularly want to go alone. What she wanted was a companion or two to have a good time with. But with her first choice bosom buddy avoiding anything resembling fun like the plague she needed a new dancing partner. The question was who? A moment later she had an answer and she smiled. That Kennedy chick seemed to like fun and they got on reasonably well, maybe she'd fancy a night in the big city. That's of course if Willow would let her. Faith shrugged, there was only one way to find out.

The abandoned school they had taken over was not very big and as the number of girls who staying slowly grew things had begun to get a little cramped. Willow and Kennedy however had somehow managed to get the largest room all to themselves and it was there that Faith went looking first.

Unfortunately when she popped her head round the door she saw that Kennedy wasn't there. Willow was though and when she noticed her unannounced visitor she frowned. "Do you want something Faith?"
"I'm looking for your girlfriend Red, is she about?" The witch's upper lip twitched in annoyance and Faith smiled, Willow still hated her.
"No she's not."
"Well…"
"Well what?"
"Where is she?"
"Why do you want to know?"
"I'm going to L.A. for a few days and I was wondering if she wanted to have some fun?" There was no point lying she'd learn soon enough anyway.
Willow's scowl was disapproving to say the least. "Well you're out of luck," she said gleefully. "Kennedy and Rona have gone to pick up another Slayer and won't be back for several days."
Shit! Rona as well. Those were the only two of the other Slayers that she remotely liked. Now what? There was Dawn but Buffy would kill her. After a moment she smiled, maybe Willow might like a night out. It might be fun in a sadistic kind of way. "How about you Red, fancy a night on the town? I promise I'll let you have first pick of the men."
"Go and fuck yourself Faith."
The Slayer laughed. "I'm fed up of doing that," she told her, laughing harder when Willow blushed, "I need a man."

Faith left Willow's room smiling broadly but no nearer to finding a companion. Out in the corridor she heard someone whistling and following the sound came across Giles seated beneath a window, reading in a world of his own. Faith sneaked closer. "Yo! G-man how goes it?"
Startled the ex-watcher jumped up, the book crashing to the floor and spun round. Seeing the Slayer he glared. "Bloody hell Faith you almost gave me a heart attack."
"It seems you're a bit out of practice Giles."
"What?" He gave her a half smile. "Oh yes, true but there's no need to go sneaking up on a fellow."
"You must be getting a little bored with just a few books to read?" she probed. Giles was old but she didn't think he was quite past it yet and she'd heard he had been a bit of a lad in his day. Maybe it could be his day again.
"No, not really. There are several interesting books written by Laurentius of Berytus that I've been reading and Xander brought me back a copy of the Essays of Bel-Labashi, chief Eunuch to Demetrius
Necator, Caliph of Persian in…"
"So," Faith interrupted loudly, if you let him he'd go on for hours, "you don't fancy a little jaunt to L.A. to let off some steam?"
He blinked. "A jaunt? To L.A? Does Angel need some help?" he asked.
The slayer shook her head. "Not to work, to play. You do remember how to play don't you Giles?"
"Oh! I see." He took off his glasses and began to clean them. "And yes I remember how to play," he told her sternly.
"How about it then G-man?" She leaned in close. "You and me dancing the night away. I bet you could show a girl a few moves."
"Er… I've got a lot of reading to catch up on," he stammered. "Maybe another time Faith."
Faith laughed and straightened up. "I'll hold you to that," she told him and sauntered off.

Bounding down the stairs two at a time Faith felt like breaking something. She couldn't believe her luck. How was a girl to have any fun? Buffy too busy, Kennedy and Rona away and Xander not back until Tuesday it looked as if… She stopped in mid thought. What day was it today? It was Wednesday wasn't it? Which meant Xander should be back. She grinned, maybe her luck hadn't deserted her after all.

At the bottom of the stairs she spotted Buffy's sister coming out of a classroom. "Dawn," she called and the young woman turned.
"Hey Faith," she said with smile. "What's up?"
"I'm looking for Xander, is he back yet?"
Dawn raised an eyebrow questioningly but getting no answer she shrugged. "Yeah, he came back late last night. I think he's in the basement fixing the boiler."
"Thanks. Later."
Ever since they'd taken up residence in the abandoned school the boiler had been a source of trouble. It was always overheating or breaking down. Xander tried his best but she was sure he didn't have a clue what he was doing.

With the stairway to the basement having collapsed long before they had taken up residence the only way down was via a rickety ladder that poked out of a hole in what had once been the canteen. Carefully climbing down, it didn't take her long to find the boiler room and seeing the door open she went in.

Xander, his shirt in a pile on the floor, was struggling with a large valve his slick sweat soaked skin glistening in the light. For a moment Faith leant against the door and admired Xander's half naked body; his broad shoulders, the play of his muscles beneath the taut skin of his back, his cute ass in his tight jeans. She smiled, it seemed someone had been working out. Moving silently forward she touched him on the shoulder. "Need a hand with that?" she asked.
Surprised, he whirled round fists raised and Faith stepped back with a laugh. "Careful there champ, you might hurt someone."
Seeing Faith Xander lowered his hands. "Oh!" he exclaimed more than a little embarrassed. "It's you. Sorry."
"Don't sweat it Xand, anytime you feel like sparring though just say the word. I'll be happy to oblige."
Xander shook his head. "That's ok Faith, thanks anyway." He frowned. "Never expected to see you down here. Are you ok?"
"Five by five," the slayer replied automatically then shrugged. "Well maybe not totally, this place is getting me down and no one wants to have any fun. You would think certain people would jump at a chance for a night out in L.A. but no." She sighed. "I even bet you've got a reason why you don't want to escape this place for a night."
"I'd love to get out for the night and have some fun, Faith but unfortunately I've got to unstick this valve and get the boiler working. You can understand that?"
Faith nodded. "I think so. What you're saying is that if the boiler wasn't broke you'd come?"
"Er…yes," Xander replied hesitantly.
"And the stuck valve is the problem?" Xander nodded. "Ok then, shift out the way and let me have a go," she said and brushing a bemused Xander out of the way grasped the valve with both hands and turned.

The valve didn't budge. Ok this was going to bit harder than she had thought. Taking several deep breaths she took a tighter grip and tried again. For several seconds she strained with no result but then grudgingly at first but then more easily it moved. When she turned it as far as it would go she looked at Xander. "I'll see you out front in an hour" she grinned "and put some clothes on."

By the time Faith was ready it was nearer to two hours, not that she was worried about it. A girl had to be fashionably late and anyway she wanted to look her best. Who knew how long it would be until she went out again. After much deliberation she had chosen a pair of tight black leather trousers that laced up at the sides and revealed bare skin from ankle to hip and a deep purple halter top that left very little to the imagination. With her hair hanging loose and wearing her trademark dark red lipstick she knew she looked hot and was gratified by Xander's reaction. When he saw her, his one good eye widened and his jaw dropped. "Oh my god," he gasped.
Faith laughed. "Goddess if you don't mind," she told him and threw him a set of keys. "We'll take Giles' car."
Xander's mouth snapped shut with an audible click. "Does Giles know?" he asked as he caught the keys.
"Of course he does," she lied.

The drive to L.A. was about an hour and Faith teased Xander shamelessly. She touched his arm, stroked his thigh and stretched provocatively on several occasions. Twice he almost drove them off the road but eventually and much to Xander's relief they hit the outskirts of the city and Faith directed them to a well-known club. Florentine Gardens was in the seedier part of L.A. sandwiched between the Salvation Army and a porno theatre but it was good fun and had great music. Also she didn't think it was one of the clubs where she had caused any trouble and if it was, well it was two years ago, it was doubtful they'd remember her.

Inside, the club was heaving. Music pounding and lights flashing, it was packed with people enjoying themselves to the limit. And beyond, Xander thought as a young woman rushed past them, a hand covering her mouth. He looked at the press of bodies with a touch of dismay. "I'm going to get a…" he began only for Faith to grab his arm.
"I think not stud muffin," she disagreed, then grinned up at him, "at least not until you show me some moves."

Dragged reluctantly on to dance floor Xander did his best to keep up as Faith swayed and undulated sensually about him. With the music throbbing around the room the dark haired slayer whirled and twisted like a woman possessed. "Come on Xand," she screamed after a while and putting her hands on his ass pulled him close. Conscious of the many eyes watching them Xander let himself sink into the music and began to respond to Faith's movements for a dance that was little short of pornographic.

Some time later, how long Xander had no idea, they broke apart. "Wow!" Faith exclaimed with a grin. "Check out the Xan man, you've got some moves."
Xander, his heart pounding, grinned back. "You're not too bad yourself. I've got to get a drink though, do you want anything?"
Faith shook her head. "Hurry back," she urged him in a husky whisper then spun away and began to dance by herself as if she was the only person in the room. Xander watched her appreciatively for a few moments then shaking his head at her daring he turned and headed for the bar pushing his way through the throng of dancers.

Two bottles of water and a short rest later Xander made his way back on to the dance floor refreshed and ready. Faith though had stopped  dancing and when he saw three men in front of her, he frowned, it looked like trouble was brewing. Quietly he moved closer.
"You're the hottest thing here honey," the lead man told her.
"The hottest thing you're ever likely to see and seeing is all you're going to be doing. Now fuck off."
The man grabbed her arm. "Don't be so hasty."
Feeling his hand cold against her skin she frowned, then half turned to look at Xander and mouthed the word `vampires' Xander gave an almost imperceptible nod of understanding.
Faith turned back and smiled. "Maybe I was wrong," she admitted, "you three fellas look like you know how to show a girl a good time. Shall we take this outside?" she asked and without waiting for a reply brushed past them. Grinning the men followed eagerly and after about a minute so did Xander.

Outside Faith found herself in a narrow alleyway, alone with the three vampires. A broken broom handle provided a suitable stake and she turned to face them weapon at the ready. Mistaking the stake for something else the leader grinned. "You won't be needing that tonight."
Faith shrugged. "I've been disappointed before and anyway it's not for me it's for you."
He frowned. "I ain't into no kinky shit."
"Well maybe you ain't the man for me," she told him and without warning kicked him straight between the legs. The man toppled to the ground with a groan clutching his groin. The other two vamps looked at each other then their faces changing they attacked. Dodging past the first of the two Faith's left fist shot out catching the second vamp on the side of the head. The vamp staggered back and she followed up her attack with a flurry of kicks and punches. The bemused vampire tried to fight back but the slayer, brimming with pent up energy, was just too quick for him. It was only a matter of moments before he was nothing but dust, Faith's stake having pierced his heart.

With one down and two to go Faith noted that the leader was still rolling on the floor in agony and decided to deal with him last. The other vamp hadn't been standing idle though and having sneaked up behind her smashed her over the back of the head with a piece of two by four. Faith stumbled to her knees the stake falling from her hand and the vamp hit her again and then again. Feeling herself slipping towards unconsciousness Faith tried to roll away but the vamp loomed above her his weapon poised for the finishing blow. "Say goodbye bitch," he growled.

Unafraid Faith waited but the blow never fell. Xander had been watching the fight develop from a safe distance but seeing his friend in trouble he acted. Tackling the vamp from the side the pair crashed to the hard ground exchanging blows as they rolled about. Even though he managed to get in some good shots he was no match for the vamp and soon found himself pinned to the ground, the vampire above him fangs bared.

He needn't have worried though his timely intervention had been all the respite Faith had needed and grasping the vamp by the collar she yanked him back. "Goodbye bitch," she said and staked him.
"Thanks," Xander said around a mouthful of dust.
Faith grinned and grasping his hand pulled him to his feet. "And thank you, your timing was just right."
Xander grinned back then looking around the alley he frowned. "Wasn't there another one?"
"Yep, I've staked him already."
"Before the other one?" he asked incredulously. "I could have been killed."
"Pah! It was only a second and you were more than holding your own. In fact I probably saved that vamp from a good beating." She smiled and slipped an arm round Xander's waist. "Anyway, let's get out of here."

The traffic in L.A. was light and it wasn't long before they were leaving the city. Looking at his companion Xander smiled. "So Faith did you enjoy your night out?"
The slayer nodded. "Dancing the night away with a sexy guy and then a bit of slaying to finish off the evening, nearly perfect."
"Only nearly?"
"Pull over Xander," Faith urged suddenly.
Xander quickly pulled the car off the road and stopped. "Are you ok?" he asked with concern.
Faith grinned. "Never felt better. What about you?" She reached out and touched his lip, then showed him the blood on her finger tips. "You're bleeding you know."
Xander was surprised. "Am I?"
Without warning she leaned forward and kissed him. When they broke apart they were both more than a little breathless. "Thanks Xander, you probably saved my life earlier."
For several seconds his heart pounding Xander was unable to reply. "It was nothing," he managed to mumble eventually.
"It wasn't nothing but anyway perhaps there's something else you can help me with."
"Sure anything."
She looked at him. "You know how slaying makes me?"
Xander nodded. "Yeah, slaying makes you hungry" he stopped his eye widening "and horny."
"That's right Xand and maybe you can't help with the first but" she undid her top and pulled it open "you can certainly help with the second."

Xander licked his lips, did he really want to tangle with Faith again? He looked at her open top, at her exposed breasts, at her small hard nipples and couldn't help but remember how they felt, how firm they were and how smooth the skin had been beneath his fingers. His hand twitched involuntarily and he felt a definite stirring below.
"Well lover boy, what's it going to be?" Faith enquired in a sultry purr.

Slowly Xander raised his head and looked into the Slayer's deep brown eyes and was lost. What manner of man could refuse such an offer? A better man than him, he answered silently as he slowly reached forward to touch her.
