| Norik Vardanian, son of Olympic Weightlifting Champion Yurik Vardanian, has gotten many people talking. His show of dominance over other U.S. lifters his age is absolutely phenomenal. Norik handily won the United States National Schoolage Weightlifting Championships in June 2003. He went on to win the Pan Am Schoolage Championships by a huge margin. Now he has earned a bronze medal in the 2004 National Junior Championships in Illinois. What next?
Norik's father, Yurik Vardanian, was the 1980 Olympic Champion. He had set 43 world records during his carreer. He now lives in Moorpark, California and is actively coaching his son.
Norik Vardanian's best official lifts to date are 135 kgs in the snatch and 180 kgs in the clean and jerk.
Norik definitely has the potential to win a World Championships sometime in the future, and maybe even an Olympics. So the question remains, "Is history about to repeat itself?" I say definitely!
