| Minutes University of St Andrews Alumni Club of St Andrews Last Hurrah, Sept 10, 2002 Attendance: Chris Evans, Ian Muth, Karen Walls, Simon Hewett, Rhonda Hewett. and Ware Petznick. Apologies: Sheila Bautista, Paul Hoffman, Richard Conroy and Niels Petiet Minutes: 1. Named club: The University of St Andrews Alumni Club of New England 2. Membership: Grads and non-grads (JYA, JSA and Erasmus), family, Friends of St Andrews, former staff. Honorary members were mentioned. 3. Election of Officers and Committee Members: Spoke about future requirement to elect Committee members. All present agreed that once the club had been operating for a couple of months, elections could be held. The Burns Supper event was suggested as a possible time. In the meantime, the club will operate with those present. 4. American Alumni Mentoring Network: Priority of the club to form a network to provide advice and information to fellow St Andreans moving to New England. Aims are to provide a social and employment network. Set up a structure to faciliate summer internships for St Andrews students. Set up a network to provide accommodation for alumni. 5. Social Events: An annual Burns Supper was decided upon though no details have yet been determined. Ceidlidhs, Raisin Weekend, May Day, Highland Games and attending balls as a club were suggested. No details have been set. 6. Future Meetings: The club will meet every 2nd Tuesday of every other month in a different part of Boston. It has been suggested that the next time we meet we meet in the Back Bay. Future meetings will occur in different areas of Boston. NOTE that all of the above may change given that no formal organisation has been made without formal elections; Sheila Bautista and other alums were not present to voice their opinions. By-laws are to be determined and the club needs to be registered officially as a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization. I am grateful to Ian Muth for recording the minutes of our meeting! Great Job Ian.
