Star of the Muses, Ninefold Goddess
Designed and Hand Made by me, StainedWitch@aol.com
![]() Such designs represent nine-way world divisions, like the Nine Worlds of norse myth: the worlds of fire, she gods, the light elves, the sea, earth dwellers, giants, dark elves, the dead and the mists. Another reason for the sacredness of nine in Arabic numbers is that the digits of every multiple of nine add up to nine again. And as you can see in this
image I have captured the essence of the magick of this
star in the reflection that goes out into the limitless
universe. If you are a believer in Magick the
possibilities are endless to the practioner! This design
is in Beveled Stained Glass, with bright and shinning
silver trim, a 3 circle goddess trinity loop for hanging,
and a butterfly in the very center for the metamorphosis
of the goddess. Measures about 5 inch by 5 inch. Can be
taken down turned upside down and used on the alter as a
candle stand. |
What is a Muse? No it is not something you eat! The word Muse or Mused or Musing is dirived from the ancient times and the meaning is to think in a dreamy way; think; meditate; look thoughtfully, say thoughtfully; or muser, to ponder, reflect or sometimes muse, spirit that inspires a poet or composer and from Greek Myth Muse, one of the nine Greek Goddesses of the fine arts and sciences It was common in ancient times for troubadours and romantic poets to speak of their individual Muses, often embodied in mortal women; wives or lovers, who awakened the male poet's creative energies. The theory was that woman inspires and man creates. It was a sexist theory that in effect denied women the true inner spirit of artistic creativity. But in her original form, the Muse was a Goddess whose fires might illuminate the mind of either sex. Still, like the Hindu Goddess as Shakti, she taught the way of the left hand to those upon whom she poured her gifts. We still say a creative person is "gifted." The oldest tradition of the Muses shows that they were symbolic of the Triple Goddess as a triad. The first of them was Mnemosyne, "Memory," the most essential gift because no poet could repeat his verses without her. Like the three Graces, the original three Muses provided a better than average ability in some field of artistic endeavor. Later were multiplied to nine (Star of the Muses) A great temple of the Muses in Alexandrea was called the Museum. Unlike a modern museum, it was chiefly a school of the arts. It was destroyed early in the Christian era. The Muses still give their name to "music" and "amusement," as well as the verb "to muse," which means to search the inner mind for inspiration. information comes from The Woman's Dictionary of Symbols and Sacred Objects by Walker and desk Dictionary |
