STALHAM BRASS BAND

PRESENTS A

CELEBRATION

In April 2000, Gerald Thirst MBE, world record holder, for 50 years conductor and 76 years player for the Stalham Brass Band, in Norfolk, died suddenly, aged 84.

One of the last band events Gerald was involved with was playing for the first recording in Stalham Church, of the CD "CELEBRATION", a collection of well loved songs of praise, and the band’s first commercial recording.

with Foreword by the Bishop of Norwich

........this CD will certainly entertain, but I believe listening to it will make people better as well. It will surely be a blessing to many.

"Celebration" is dedicated to Gerald, and as well as containing 17 music tracks, has an additional recording of him recalling his early days with the band. All arrangements of the music are by Gerald and his son Tim, who took over as Director of Music a few years ago.

A booklet is included which researches the history of each hymn, its composer and author, as well as the history of the Stalham Band, which is East Anglia’s longest established (c1875).
