THE HISTORY OF THE STAMFORD LIONS CLUB
The Stamford Lions Club was organized during the winter
of 1957, under the sponsorship of the Niagara Falls Lions Club, and received it's charter on May 6, 1957, with Lion
Ben Prior serving as Charter President.

Meetings were held at the Red Casque Inn on old Highway # 8 (St. Paul Ave.) until, in April 1959,  it was destroyed by a spectacular fire in which two employees lost thier lives. Meetings were  then held at the Stevens Hotel on Ferry St. until 1963 and then at the Park Motor Hotel on Clifton Hill. In 1974 meetings were moved to the newly renovated Stamford Lions Memorial Hall on Portage Rd which had been purchased from the Stamford  Women's Institute in 1972.
