So, uh, what DO you eat, anyway?

Being a vegetarian, I face this question quite often. Truth be known, I am usually quite happy with something as simple as a and a , but of course, I love eating other foods also. Here is a small answer to that age old question:

Is there anything you can eat here?

Applebee's doesn't have just a ton of stuff for me, but I really love going there for the fun atmosphere.  Plus, they have the best diet cokes of anyone!  If you can get them to do it right, they have really good veggie quesadillias.  (I had to send them back TWICE to get them to finally get all the meat out though, and finally ended up just getting fries.  Their fries are excellent though, I will say.)  Desserts (especially the blonde brownie skillet) are very good!
YUM YUM YUM!!!  I'd weigh 500 pounds if we lived closer to this restaurant.  Their Five-Star Veggie Plate is the best!  Plus, you get these free rolls that have this wonderful yeasty flavor.  (I've personally eaten more than six, BEFORE my great meal!)  Obviously, I've never had room for dessert here, but they look good.  Don't forget to try their raspberry tea!
I've had varying degrees of success with Chick-Fil-A.  ETBU had a Chick-Fil-A in their cafeteria, but all they ever had there were fries, which were rumored to be fried in beef fat, so I tried to avoid them most of the time.  Even the salads had chicken on them, unless you got the LITTLE bitty ones.  The normal Chick-Fil-A's you find in malls and stuff have many more items.  Their lemonade is very good, even the diet kind!
Cracker Barrel has this country vegetable plate that is amazing!  They make their croutons on their salads, so always be sure you order extras.  I also love their fried apples, and their chocolate brownie dessert is one of the best things I have ever eaten!
El Chico is generally good!  They have something called the California Quesadilla that is unlike anything I have ever found anywhere else. It is made with tomato tortillas, and has avocado, onion, and all these cheeses inside. I never get enough of them.  It's not on the menu anymore, so you have to special order it.  I fear that they'll eventually quit making them!
Fazoli's is another place where I could easily eat my weight in breadsticks!!  I would easily say that their bread is better than that of Olive Garden.  (Fazoli's bread is JUST underdone, making it soft and yummy.)  They also feature vegetarian items regularly on their menu.  Their pizza is AMAZING, and their panini 4-cheese and tomato sandwich (without red peppers) is really good.  Plus, it's like Olive Garden quality at McDonald's prices.
Let me begin by saying that the Golden Corral in Marshall is not the best one in existence.  Beyond that, I love the selection on the buffet!!  The macaroni and cheese is amazing, and the seasoned fries (with cheese dipping sauce!!) is really good.  Their salad bar is also well done, as are their rolls!
IHOP IHOP IHOP IHOP!!!!!!!!  How exciting it is to have an IHOP in Marshall!  Ours just opened, but we're already happily gaining weight there.  Chocolate chip pancakes, stuffed french toast, waffles, and hash browns!  I also understand that their dinner menu is good, but I haven't gotten to that yet.  The breakfast menu has a lot more for me anyway, and it's very exciting!
If Marshall ever gets a Jack in the Box, I will know that my mission here is complete.  I've lobbied for a Jack in the Box for years now.  There were rumors of us getting one for awhile, but nothing ever materialized.  They have great salads, and their curly fries are REALLY good.  They also have great diet coke!
Our Jalapeno Tree is currently one of my favorite places to go.  I can usually eat an entire bowl of chips by myself, because their salsa and their green sauce (YUM!) is soooo good.  I also love their queso.  In fact, I usually just eat chips and then get a dinner salad.  Their honey dijon dressing is a great way to cool your mouth off after all that salsa.
I don't get to go to Jason's Deli that often, but they have an amazing salad bar.  One neat thing about this restaurant is that they are very concious of vegetarians and of dieters.  They always provide great options such as fat free cheeses, and vegetarian sandwiches.  This is also one of the few places I've ever seen with caffeine free drinks from the fountain!
I don't really choose to go here often, mostly because I end up eating junk!  hehehe.  However, KFC does make great potato wedges!  I also like their side orders.  If you are extremely lucky, you might be able to find a KFC with a buffet.  Those are really good.  I think they're a dying breed, though.
The McDonald's in Marshall is relatively scary, but we sometimes get brave enough to go.  Of course, the fries are really good.  (Always get the super size!!!)  The McFlurry's are my favorite thing, especially the M&M kind!  Be sure you also get a huge diet coke, because they are good there.  The salads leave something to be desired, so just give up and get fries.
I thought I'd never go to Mr. Gatti's again until we found one in Shreveport, LA.  They have this great buffet there, and unlike most pizza places, they actually keep theirs stocked with cheese pizza!!!!   Their dessert pizzas are also good.  Who would have thought that chocolate pudding on pizza would work out well?
The Olive Garden has held a special place in my stomach for a long time now!!!!  I can usually eat my own weight in breadsticks and salad here!  And, their tiramisu is the best thing on the menu!
Woohoo!!  Outback has the best cheese fries EVER.  (Just be sure to order them without bacon.)  The last time we went, the waiter tried to get me to order just a half order of cheese fries, but I was like, "I think not."  I also got a great salad here.  The tomato vinigrette dressing is surprisingly tasty.
Papacita's is a great Mexican food restaurant in Longview.  Their salsa is so good you could almost drink it, and their chips are flavored with paprika to make them extra tasty!   The queso is okay (as are their dinner salads), but their shining achievement is free flour tortillas and honey (and butter) for every table!  All you can eat!
I love Papa John's pizza mostly for their great sauce.  It is more sweet than most sauces.  Plus, they are extremely adept at taking special orders correctly.  I love my no cheese, extra sauce and pineapple pizza!
Pizza Hut is my favorite classic pizza.  It is here that I fell in love with pan crust!  They also have the best breadsticks of anyone.  I love to go to their lunch buffet, even though they are bad about keeping the cheese pizza stocked.  They also serve diet pepsi!
I hope we someday get a Quizno's in Marshall.  Their veggie sandwich is so good.  I think it's the guacamole that just really makes it tasty.  You should get a large, but only if you're really starving.  They also have Vanilla Coke from the fountain!  You can't get that just anywhere.
Roly Poly (besides having the cutest name EVER) is a new concept in sandwiches.  They take all of the ingredients and roll them in a huge tortilla.  It's very good!  They also have an entire menu board dedicated to vegetarian selections.  We first went to one of these on our honeymoon in San Antonio, and I never expected to find one again.  Then, lo and behold, one popped up in Longview!  It was very exciting.
Ryan's restaurants have one of the best buffets going.  It is a zillion times better than Golden Corral, both in size and in quality!  Their salad bar is great, but their selection of meatless hot foods really amazed me.  Also, their rolls!!!!!!!!!!!!   It is hard to walk when you leave this place.
Sonic is THE best place to go for a great drink.  I love their Route 44 Diet Cherry Chocolate Coke with easy ice!   However, I have learned to restrict my drinking of these things to the early afternoon/evening hours, or else I will stay up until sunrise.  If your Sonic has a Happy Hour, that's just that much better.  They also make great tater tots, fries, and grilled cheese, although they definitely charge enough!
Souper Salad is a wonderful place to go for any kind of salad you'd ever want.  It's quite a feast.  Not only do they have a great salad bar (featuring green PEAS!!!!!!!!), but they also have fruit, breads, and soups.  I love this place.
Subway is where I first fell in love with the idea of a veggie sandwich.  I never imagined that cheese and lettuce on bread would be good until I came here!!  Hopefully, you will get a Sandwich Artist who is generous with the pickles.  :)  Their toasted sandwiches are another nice touch.
Taco Bell and I have had a very fickle relationship.  There were once the glory days of the veggie fajita wraps, and then the doldrums of now....  They'll make almost anything without meat, but they still charge full price.  Plus, I have this fear that all they're doing is standing back there picking out the meat before they wrap the item, meaning that meat juice is all over everything.  So, nachos are usually the safest bet here!
The Texas Roadhouse is second only to Outback in its glorious cheese fries!  They have great rolls too, and they taste like they are fresh out of the oven.  The salads are also amazing!
Wendy's is my favorite drive-through place for a good salad.  Their side salads are only 99 cents and are really a great bargain!!  They also have great diet coke.  Although I still live in hope that they will bring back their garden veggie pitas, in the meantime I console myself with their baked potatoes.  The fries, however, leave something to be desired.
Whataburger is a good late-night french fry craving spot!  They also have good hash browns and diet coke.  Their fries come in a cup, which makes them just that much more appealing.
