Pre-K through 2nd grade gym classes enjoyed a number of new christmas games including The Grinche's Whooliday Tag and Rudolph's Treasure Hunt. A rhythms sequence using ribbons set to Jingle Bells was a new way to "warm-up". Looking into the new year, January will be geared to games around the world and beginning fitness tasks. Third -sixth grade will also be working on games from around the world and fitness skills at a more indepth level as well as beginning their volleyball unit. Our fitness unit will include a Jump Rope For Hearts event where all the children will participate in jumping skills stations. Those who have permission will raise money for the American Heart Assoc. and bring it in on the day of the jump rope event. This is scheduled for February 14th. The goal for St. Ann's this year will be to raise $300. I always suggest to the children that perhaps they can do a special chore for their parents and earn a dollar or two. If all children were able to do this, meeting our goal would not be difficult. This is a great way for the gym classes to reach out to their community. Look for more information to come home later this month and, as always, thank you for your support! |
