CS Cassiopeia
Cass came to me with CS Equinox and Catherston June Bug. I bought all three when the old Catherston Stud in the now-closed game Horse Fever was downsizing. Never once have I regretted my buy, and in fact, these three are the main reason I now breed Fell Ponies! Cass is considered one of our most lovable, huggable ponies, and her funloving, humourous nature has always been popular with the young colts and fillies (not to mention children!) at Rhegedale. She is great friends with Bugsy, and the two make a great pair in harness.
Undersaddle she is spirited and can be a little eccentric, in a fun sort of way. I sometimes wonder if she is doing her own private study of humans, acting in a different way to some commands to see how we'll respond. She'll go left when you pull the right rein, turn right when you pull the left rein, or speed to a canter when you try to slow her into a walk. Perhaps she's trying to train us, the way humans train a pony! She is not difficult or vicious in any way, and can often be "straightened out" within the first few minutes of a training session. But if the rider does not understand that she is merely having some fun, whips might come into play and then things could get a little ugly. For this reason we tend to allow only the older or more experienced riders on her. In showing however, she is all business and dedication. Perhaps the tension and excitement of the showing arena lets her know that it's time to get serious, and then she puts on a marvelous act, combining her natural playfulness with her steady obedience to the rider's aid for a truly grand performance indeed.
