Newfarm Magic Valora
Valora was purchased from Kili as part of a single-horse package. She is one incredibly sweet and gentle-spirited mare, and carries the natural intelligence of her kind that really puts her one notch above the norm. She is also of a very rare colouring for a Fell Pony, and her bloodlines are impeccable. Ever since her arrival, she has struck up a great friendship with Bugsy and Cass, and the three are often seen wandering the fields of Rhegedale together. Valora is clearly the most mild-mannered of the three, but that has never stopped her from demonstrating her atheletic ability when she feels it neccessary. One merely has to watch her chasing the passing foxes away from the rest of the herd to know that!
Undersaddle she is a superb ride, very smooth and easy to handle, yet displaying lots of impulsion and energy when you ask for it. We have yet to try her with any of the other Fell Ponies as a pair in harness, but Valora is on her own a very easy pony to handle in harness, and we have used her more than once to give the children cart rides around the farm, or teach them how to drive. Like the others, she is a very good pony with children, and will easily take any sort of treatment from them without complaint. But Valora also knows how to discipline the youngsters if she needs to. Once she took off suddenly with a boy who had been hitting her continually with a stick. She brought the youngster back fifteen minutes later still safely on her back, but minus the stick, and clearly about to break out in tears! Yet such occurances are extremely rare, and Valora herself would never allow any of her young charges to be hurt, even during "discipline" time. It is this maternal nature, combined with her naturally showing aptitude, that truly sets her apart at Rhegedale Farm.
