The Tholians are a silicon-based race that fled their home galaxy after being on the losing end of an uprising by their subject race, the Seltorians. Arriving in the Milky Way Galaxy, they conquered a portion of Klingon space near the Galactic Boundary.
These Tholians, known as the Archaeo-Tholians, has limited shipbuilding capacity and could only build Patrol Corvettes. Eventually they figured out how to weld the hulls together with enough strength to withstand warp travel and made larger ships.
The Tholian capital was about to fall to Klingon attack when the 312th Battle Fleet arrived from the Tholian home galaxy. These ships, known as Neo-Tholian designs, were much more powerful than the ships the Tholians currently had and drove back the Klingon invasion. |
