It was the coldest winter Zhyon had had in years and also the night of the winter ball. Sachi watched as snowflakes hit the window gently then melted away into water. A white blanket of snow covered the ground as far as she could see. She could see many guest from other kingdoms arriving in coaches and buggies of all different shapes and sizes. Sachi smiled. Tonight should be fun she thought happily. ?Right Rupurt?? A little purple creature meowed and rubbed against the princess. |
?Excuse me, ma?am, but all the guest are almost here.? said a maid servant. ?Your mother wishes your presence in the ball room.? |
Sachi jumped off her bed. ?Alright. Thank you, Gina.? She began to pick up Rupurt when the maid stopped her. |
?Your mother said to leave the animal in your room, me lady.? |
Sachi sighed. ?Alright.? the servant bowed and walked away. |
Everyone had arrived and all were merry. There was a feast fit for a king, pipers and fiddler, great kings from far off lands, royals and commoners. The lord Zhou and lady Jia were seated upon their thone as well as there 4 children. Sachi sat upright and proper smiling happily until she saw a few farmilar faces in the crowd. It?s that boy and his gang again. her grin soon turned into angery expression. |
******* |
Suzuma, Sachi?s elder sister, noticed this. ?Is something the matter, Sachi?? |
She turned to her sister and shook her head. ?No. Nothing that I can?t handle.? Sachi stood up and turned to her parents. ?I?ll be back in a moment, papa, mama.? |
She ran off down the stairs as her mother shouted. ?Wait! Sachi Lin!? |
But Sachi didn?t listen and continued to march towards the boy. Pushing through the crowd, she finally got to the boy. ?What you doing here?!? Sachi said angerly in common tongue. |
?Princess Sachi!? he said urgently. ?We must speak with your parents! It?s a matter of life or death!? He was breathing hard and heavey like he had run 10 miles straight to get there. |
Sachi glared at him with her bright blue eyes. ?Leave away! Or I get guards.? As she began to walk back towards the throne, she felt someone grab her arm and tug her. She turned to see the annoying brown haired boy staring at her pleadingly. |
?Please, Sachi. The rebels are attacking tonight! You most warn the guests!? |
Sachi pulled her arm from the boy. ?You adress me as, princess Sachi, peasant! And rebels no harm to us.? She turned and stomped away. |
?Well, that didn?t go as well as we thought.? said another boy with dark blue hair. The brown haired boy glared at him. |
?Welcome to the 7th annual winter ball of Zhyon!? all went silent as the lord spoke in the common tongue. ?I expect all is going well.? The crowd cheered and raised their cups of wine. The lord laughed. ?It makes me very happy to see everyone is here. It is a great honor to see so many high and royal leaders tonight. I thank you all for coming. I know it had to have been a travel for you. I wish everyone to-? Suddenly the huge brightly colored doors of the castle flew open and a mist blew in. Everyone in the castle screamed and the lights went dim. |
There was a loud laugh that put chills up and down your spine and out of the mist came a man dressed in a beautiful robe, carrying a strange, golden staff. ?Lord Zhou, lady Jia, good evening.? He smirked as groups of soliders stormed in, killing anyone who got in their way. |
The king stood up from his throne. ?Ganhof! What is the meaning of this?!? He roared. ?Guards!? All of the king?s wards ran to his service and began to fight the soliders. One of the wards started towards Ganhof, screaming, sword raised high over head, ready to slaughter this traitor. The wizard smirked as he lifted his right hand and in one powerful blast, turned the ward into dust. Everyone in the castle began to flee in terror as the solider advanced foward killing anyone who dare come against them. The king turned to his family and said urgently. ?Jia, take the children and get out of here.? |
?B-but Zhou-? Jia fought back her tears. |
?GO! FLY!!!? And with that the royal family ran as fast as they could down the stairs and out the side door. Sachi gasped as she saw a group of men marching towards them, swords and daggars in hand. |
Gina the maid grabbed at the queens arm. ?Me lady! Quickly this way!? he led them into the study and quickly opened a secret passage way. ?Swiftly! Your highnesses! Swiftly!? They ran down the path as fast as they could, not looking back. The pathway led to somewhere else in the palace, to the children?s rooms. |
As they ran by Sachi?s room, she heard a soft scratching and meowing. Rupurt!!! she gasped. She turned around as her mother yelled ?SACHI!!!.? ?Rupurt! Rupurt!? Sachi screamed as she ran down the hall. Opening the door, a solider grabbed her. She screamed and tried to pull away. |
?Sachi!!!? her mother screamed again. ?Sachi!!!? The solider put a sword up to Sachi?s neck warningly. Daring the queen to try and save her. Sachi?s eyes were full of tears. |
The man chuckled. ?Say good bye princess.? Just then the man stopped and letting Sachi go, fell to the ground. |
The princess gasped and looked to see the annoying boy holding a bloody short sword. ?Y-you...? she whispered in her language. |
He looked up at her. ?I don?t know what that means but hopefully it?s good.? He grabbed Rupurt and Sachi?s arm. ?Come on! We have to get you out of here.? |
