Part 1 - taF // Saturday, May 31, 2003 // 06:57 p.m.

Terrin Takahashi was usually a very good sleeper - rising with the sun and sleeping with the moon type of a person - but when the sun rose that morning, he was tired. So tired he had trouble opening his eyes - and when he finally got them open, he decided he'd never seen the sun quite so bright before.

Blinking a few times and yawning, Terrin decided he had to be dreaming. Especially as it didn't seem to be the sun that was shining but some object suspended in the center of his room.

"Huh?" Was the best he could come up with as he stared hard at the object, trying to focus past the bright light.

Terrin struggled upright and scooted towards the edge of his bed, heading for the object that grew brighter as he got nearer. In all the fourteen years of his life, Terrin had never had quite an encounter as this one and he was pretty sure that this one wasn't real. After all, in this particular world, gravity was an important factor and the glowing object seemed to be going against all science.

And he didn't even know exactly why he wanted to see what it was - number one, it was so bright he couldn't see his hand in front of his face, much less that object; and number two, it probably wasn't the safest thing to do as it was floating in midair and glowing.

So, going against all common sense, Terrin reached out with his hand to grasp the object, recieving a nasty surprise when he was welcomed by a sharp stab of pain in the palm of his hand, an even brighter flash of light went off and the room went dark.

At first Terrin thought he'd gone permanently blind, but looking at his watch, flashing a bright 2:23, he realized it was not morning - the reason he was so tired - and the object had stopped glowing.

"Wait! The thing's not glowing anymore?!" Terrin thought out loud and stared at the thing in his hands - a thing he'd only seen movies and museums, only read about in books and comics… "A sword?"

That it was and a rather ugly and unimpressive one too, though sharp as Terrin could testify from the cut in his palm now. He eyed it, waiting for it to give some sign of being the floating, bright thing it had been mere seconds ago but it did nothing as it lay in front of him.

"Right." Terrin gave another huge yawn and fell back to sleep. Whatever the thing was, he'd deal with it in the morning.
