"You cannot refuse. If you do not do this, it would be handing Atlaris back to Talan on a silver platter. He would get it back and then all of Taslani would be in ruin." Landar said.

"No." The king interrupted him. "He has a right to refuse. I would not wish a task like this upon anyone who will do it with a half heart."

"Can't you just melt it or break it or something?" Terrin asked. He couldn't see what the big deal was.

"It's impossible. The sword was made by Talan's hands so it can only be destroyed by his own hands. You must have him destroy it." King Ryukat said.

"How is he supposed to do that?!" Kenta demanded. "You think we could just ask him nicely, 'Hey, Talan! You think you could do us a favor and just kind of destroy this sword here?'" He said.

"No. I have no idea how this is supposed to happen. But it's the only way. And Terrin is the only one to do it." King Ryukat answered and at this he turned to Terrin. "Will you accept this?" He asked.

Terrin had no clue why he was in this strange world with its strange people and its strange wars. But wasn't an adventure what he had been waiting for? "All right." He answered. "I'll do it."

"You can't be serious! You'll be killed!!" Kenta said. "Lord Talan...he's--" "It doesn't matter." Terrin shrugged. "It'll be fun!" He gave a sudden grin.

Kenta gave him an incredulous look and Terrin could almost see the gears turning in his head. "Fine then!" He made up his mind. "I'm coming with you!!"

The king smiled. "Then rest tonight. Your provisions will be prepared tonight and your guide will be chosen. You must start right away at first light tomorrow morning."
