There was another canine cry, even closer now. Still red she turned to Terrin who was now standing and swinging his sword. “We’ll have to be going without him.”
Terrin looked at her. “B-but...we can’t just leave him!”
“Look boy we have no time for this!” She grabbed his arm but he pulled back.
“I’m not leaving him!” he cried.
“We’ll be coming back for him! Now come on!” She pulled him away from the camp and up a short flit of old rock stairs that led to the top of the hill. All around them were ruins of stone and one large statue stood in the middle of the small stone courtyard.
Sola, still holding Terrin’s arm tightly, said, “Get ready.....” She smirked ready for a fight. “They’re here...I be feeling it...”
And sure enough out of the shadows emerged three, 6’0 wolfmen. They had long claws, stained with blood and eyes that shone with a glow so evil, it seemed as if you were looking into the eyes of death. Still smiling, Sola slipped a dagger out of her sleave and readied her staff nudging Terrin to withdraw his dagger. He did so, trembling horribly. The lead wolf’s eyes flashed and he gave a long howl, as to say ‘let the battle begin.’ The three beasts launched themselves at the two growling and drooling. Terrin yelped as Sola attacked the werewolves head on.
Terrin watched as Sola took on two wolves so fearlessly and confident. ‘She’s so strong....’ His thoughts were cut short when he noticed one of the wolves approaching him. His eyes filled with fear. The creature smirked and began to growl showing it’s long white fangs. He squealed and closing his eyes, he slashed at the beast and to his surprise he hit it. The werewolf yelped; Now it was serious. It’s eyes became crimson red and it’s snarl was the most horrifying thing Terrin had heard in his life. Again it pounced at the brown haired boy, knocking him over and hitting the dagger out of his hand. Terrin gave a yelp as he hit the ground and crawled backwards as the wolf advanced. He was trapped. ‘I-is this it?’ Just as the wolf was about to attack it stopped, it’s eyes full of pain. It screamed and dropped to the ground. Terrin saw the dagger embedded in the werewolf’s back and looked up to see Sola holding a torch.
She smirked. “Ye almost got killed, boy.” He blinked and noticed the other two beasts stained, scorched, and still. The brown hair boy slowly got up, breathing heavily. “Come now, It ‘tis almost dawn. We must wake yer loud friend.” Pushing a strand of hair out of her face and began to walk away. Terrin quickly followed. |
