Samantha Carter sighed and looked at her watch. 5:58pm... and yet there was no sign of the four men that had promised to come to dinner. No General Hammond, no Daniel, no Jack nor Teal'c. Jack she could forgive... he was always late, no matter the occasion. But usually Daniel and Teal'c and the General arrived early.

Sam got up from her sofa and peered out into the darkening streets. The leafless trees swayed in the wind and the pumpkins on the doorsteps flickered evilly. Suddenly, out of the darkness cut two beams of light. Headlights. The headlights turned in her driveway and she smiled. She finally had some help for this Halloween.

They did this every year... The team gathered at one house and did the Halloween festivities and then afterwards had a party. This year it was Sam's turn. Last year it was Daniel's. That was a little less productive... seeing that he lived in a complex.

*Ding-dong*

Sam rushed to the door, smoothing back her hair and placing the witches hat on her head. Her costume swirled around her feet as she swung opened the door and crackled.

"Welcome my pretties to my house of evil."

Jack stared at her for a moment before stepping in the door. He was dressed as a pirate. The fake bird on the shoulder and eye patch, a large hat was set upon his head with a large feather flopping in front of his face. Daniel stepped in next, he wore a pressed white shirt, tie and brown pants. He had a white lab coat... on loan from the SGC and his hair was teased straight up, with a white streak going through the middle... a mad scientist. Sam smiled and gestured for Teal'c to come in.

Now that was interesting.

Teal'c was dressed up in a headset and a suit. He carried a briefcase and had a set of glasses perched on his nose. Sam looked at Daniel and Jack.

"What exactly are you Teal'c?"

He looked at her almost as if she were nuts. Daniel cleared his throat a bit and nudged Jack in the ribs.

"He's a Stockbroker Carter... it's kind of obvious isn't it?"

Sam stared at Teal'c then at Jack. He shrugged and Sam decided to let it go, she went off towards the kitchen area, pouring the rest of the candy into the cauldron that she was serving the trick-or-treaters with. In the other room, Jack and Daniel were talking whereas Teal'c was flipping through his briefcase.

"So... uh... Teal'c... Where did you get the idea of becoming a stockbroker? Not that it isn't a great idea... just pretty unusual."

Teal'c stopped rifling through his briefcase and came out with a picture of a man which he showed to Sam as she lugged the candy filled cauldron to her door. A man settled comfortably in a plush chair with his own headset staring outwards. Everything about him, spelled extravagance and wealth.

"I am portraying the great Nick Leeson. He has taught me much."

Sam smiled uneasily and rolled her eyes. Let it be. The sky outside was completely dark, and there was still no sign of the General. Of course the man in question wouldn't be late... unless he had a reason. The doorbell rang suddenly and Sam realized the first wave of trick-or-treaters was out. Jack raced up behind her, a scary expression ready for the kids. The door opened and Jack barred his teeth.

"Ahhhh!"

A little child dressed up as an angel took one look and ran. Sam almost dropped the candy in her haste to actually give it to the child. As the little angel ran off into the darkness Sam turned sourly towards her CO.

"That was totally and utterly cruel."

Jack shrugged, took a handful of candy from her cauldron and plopped down beside Daniel again who was trying to keep his hair straight up. Sam sighed and shook her head, peering down the road and then closing the door. With her luck the Colonel would eat everything before it was even given out.

"So... Sam... do you know when the General's getting here... or even when we're going to start the festivities?"

Sam sat on her comfy chair and put a hand under her chin as she watched Jack gulp down a confiscated Mars Bar. She rubbed her eyes and shrugged her shoulders. Teal'c was typing away at a borrowed laptop. Suddenly the phone rang and simotaniously the doorbell chimed.

Wonderful.

"Daniel, get the door and don't let the Colonel near the kids. Teal'c... you have the next wave."

Sam ran off to the phone in her kitchen and picked up the receiver, covering her free ear with her other hand as the children began protesting loudly what candy they wanted. Sam could barely hear the voice on the other side.

"Yes? General sir? Yes... I understand... you won't be able to make it? Accident... yes sir. I understand. I'll tell the Colonel and the rest of the SGC when they get here... thank you for calling. Yes... Good-bye."

Sam hung up the phone and poked her head through the door. Daniel was waving at the kids and just closing the door.

"Who was that Sam?"

Daniel turned around, a piece of silly string stuck to his head. Sam stared for a moment and he smiled sheepishly.

"Very enthusiastic bunch..."

"Yeah... well... that was the General. They had a bit of an accident up there. Apparently that jelly stuff we brought back from recon got dropped. The glass container broke and now they figured out that this stuff grows at an amazing rate. Well... The general would've left but the stuff ended up going through the entire SGC... he's stuck in there... along with a bunch of janitors and a couple scientists. They neutralized it's growth. All they have to do is clean it up... but that'll take a while. The General might not even come at all."
