The Cases of Darlie Routier and Jeffrey McDonald

Similarities? Or Coincidences?

(By Jon Galt)

Both were suffering financial hardships. Both claimed the night of the murders to have had a nice talk with their spouse and everything was fine.

Both claim to have fixed a bottle for a child. (Showing paternal bond in story)

Both claim to have fallen asleep on the couch.

Both claim to have "awakened" by child's voice pleading for help.

Both claimed to be rendered unconscious by attack.

Both sustained serious but non-life threatening wounds.

Both sustained wounds substantially different from those in the household which resulted in death.

Both give sketchy descriptions of attackers.

Both say they awoke after the destruction to find that they were spared.

 Both claim an outside "intruder".

Neither cases show any evidence of an outside intruder.

Both suffered damage to their cases by their own actions and indifferences (and joyous joking behavior) on television interviews closely following the murders.

In both cases the murder weapons were items from INSIDE the home, and were LEFT in the home.

After the arrest of both people, a crime such as that never happened in the area again.

Both crime scenes were ruled to be staged.

Both were convicted on massive blood evidence indicating them as the perpetrator.

Both told friends that they knew "who the real killers were". Both were caught in the lie. Both claimed that they so wanted to believe it was true and find closure.

 Neither case has apparent motive.

Both took the stand. Both were believed to be their own worst witness.

Both claim that the jury didn't see and hear all evidence.

Both claim that defense had no time to prepare.

Both only get emotional when talking about their own fate.

Both claim the Judge was prejudiced against them.

Both claim "new evidence". Both withhold the "new evidence" for later retrial. Both say that new evidence will be released soon. Neither has released new evidence (to date).

Both had multiple conflicting stories. Both continue to change the stories as the evidence against them is strengthened.

Both have loyal supporters. Both have websites proclaiming innocence.

Both think that they will be released from jail.
