Chimpanzee

The Chimpanzee is the animal most closely related to humans. They are very intelligent and can be taught to do many things, including counting. They also have an opposable thumb, which is a characteristic unique to primates and humans.

The Chimp is losing its habitat, and also they are dying out because they are being hunted and sold.

Conservation efforts that ban the hunting and sale of chimpanzees provide some protection, but they are difficult to carry out.

Dr. Jane Goodall has been working with chimps and is known for her work with them.
