Giant River Otter
The Giant River Otter population is decreasing rapidly. They are being hunted for their pelts.
At the Dallas World Aquarium they have the only breeding pair of Giant River Otter in the United States. They came from Venezuela. There is another pair of these otters in Philadelphia, but they are both male.
Between two and five thousand are remain in South America, and there are very few in the US, since it is not their native home.
