StarLight Assistance Animal Academy & Training Center

Welcome! Please take a few minutes to read this page. We have much information about who the Academy is able to assist.The school, located in beautiful Columbia, Louisiana, is a school for service animals. We do not offer guide animals or psychiatric animals at this time. We do train Service Animals, Facility Animals and Companion Animals. We Do Not Provide Protection Dogs. If you are looking for a dog for your personal protection, please contact an agency that trains protection dogs.

We offer several types of classes. These include: program-trained animals--there is a waiting list; owner-trained thru private or group classes; internet training classes--private class rates only.

StarLight Assistance Animal Academy & Training Center accepts individuals 6 years and over, depending on child's maturity. We offer both program trained animals and owner-trained animal classes. Both types of trained animals have all access rights according to ADA laws. To attend owner-trained classes, you must live within driving distance of Columbia Louisiana. Owners training their own animals must also fill out an application to be held in our files. Certification is provided to all who attend classes after the certification test is passed.

Before we can assist anyone requesting a service animal, we must have an application on file. This includes your application, your physician's medical form, references and committee approval from the school. We then contact you and conduct an interview-usually over the phone. Please take a few moments to fill out the application right now. If you send an email, we must direct you back to the application only. This is your first step in receiving a service animal.
