I have been a registered nurse for sixteen years and have specialised in the care of the elderly and those with orthopaedic problems in the hospital environment and in home health as well.
I have two wonderful daughters. I am blessed. I am 44 now.
I moved to Illinois and plan to go back to school some day, after my daughters get through college, to study computering and graphics applications.
As a nurse I had seen too much suffering and I finally broke ranks with the hospital where I worked for fifteen years and entered a new phase of my career. I do prescription drug review for a major insurance company now.
I write poetry and short stories and had a short story published in an anthology titled Caring Stories which was a collaborative effort with an orthopaedic surgeon named Chris Wiggins and numerous other people. We didn't make much money but I learned a lot from it. I have been writing since I was eight years old.
Rejection slips make nice wallpaper you know.
I have been on the net since 1997 and have built numerous poetry and short story webpages and have come to know many people from that contact. Sadly I have lost four poet friends to death. Last was my friend Max Zayas who originally lived in Florida but came to Alabama to be taken care of by his family. I got to see him shortly before he died. That was one hard road trip!
I no longer care for the sick and the dying and the demented every day when I go to work. But I am still me. I tend to be a morbid and dark person but I erupt in occasional flames of laughter. Maybe that explains why I do what I do here, and elsewhere.
Don't be afraid of the dark. Light a candle and realise the moving shadows are just a part of you.
I have been on a wonderful spiritual journey consciously since October 1998. I am constantly in search of the Truth wherever it may lead me.
