Where Do You Turn For Help?

This is a, to say the least, complicated matter. Since the syndrome is extremely rare and most wannabes do not dare telling anybody hardly any help is available. Many wannabes also are unknowing of the fact that there are others out there sharing the same feelings and frustration.

The Internet fills an important function by making it possible to get in touch with other people in the same situation. Sadly most information on the net tells the same old story about wannabes as sexual perverts.

Many wannabes have sought counseling but not told their therapists about being amputee wannabes. They are afraid of not being taken seriously or to be told they are crazy. Sadly it is a fear that is justified as several wannabes have been severely abused by the medial community to which they have turned for help in their most desperate hour. This is truly sad for where are you to turn when the people who are supposed to help you cannot see past their own prejudices?

If you do decide to seek help from the medical community be sure to come prepared with the information that is available. You are likely not to be believed at first but if you are lucky you will find someone who will listen.

To most being a wannabe means existing in a no mans land. There is nowhere to turn for help and the loneliness is tremendous. To be psychologically strong is essential for survival.

Many also keep quiet since telling someone and being open about suffering from the syndrome can, if you are unlucky, lead to even more suffering because of the lack of understanding.

Help is needed and the need will only grow stronger as more and more wannabes discover they are not alone.
