Pretending

Pretending is an activity many wannabes engage in more or less frequently. It is about getting a taste of the life you feel you are meant to live. A person who desires a leg amputation can fold his leg inside the pant leg and use crutches. Some even have their own "prosthetics" they use to add to the feeling of reality.

Please note though that there are people who pretend without being wannabes and to some it is the expression of a sexual fetish.

I personally do pretend and have my own pair of crutches and a homemade peg leg. I know pretending is pretending and not reality but for the moment it is the closest I can get to really being one-legged. I do not, however, pretend in public. Some get a kick out of being among others as an "amputee" but I have never felt I would want to do it. To me it feels rather pointless. I can understand the argument that it is sort of a live test but I would only feel uncomfortable and afraid of being discovered as a pretender. I have however taken the occasional stroll in the forest at night. What I feel then is freedom. It may sound strange but I really do.

I have also had contact with wannabes who do not pretend at all since they see no point at all in it. To them it is for real or nothing. Every individual is indeed unique.

If you are a wannabe and you do pretend I have some thoughts for you. Pretending is not for real and when you tire of it you can stop and go back to your four-limbed life. When you pretend, sometimes do it when you do not feel like it at all. Why not pretend when you are too tired to care about anything, when you have a splitting headache or do everyday household shores.

When you are an actual amputee it is a 24 hour experience that will last your entire life with all its ups and downs. Take some time and think about this once in a while. It is all too easy to only focus on becoming an amputee without thinking much of the practical implications.
