"It seems to us that from the earliest times, man's natural state was to be free as our grandfathers told us and we believe that freedom is inherent to life. We recognized this principle as the key to peace, respect for one another and the understanding of the natural law that prevails over all the universe and adherence to this law is the only salvation of our future on the planet,
Mother Earth."
Oren Lyons (1987)

The Earth is a living breathing organism that represents a very small part of the ever changing universe. With its hot internal core and multiple layers of active lava and gas, the Earth shifts, stretches and adjusts to the laws of its malleable nature as it has been doing this for thousands of years. We feel and see the results of this fluctuation in earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Man is more vested now than ever before.

The average number of greater than magnitude 7earthquakes per year since 1900 has been about 20 per year. The average for the 10 year period from 1988-97 has been 1.51, less than the 100 year average. During the last century the highest 10 year period was 31.4 for 1941-50, and the lowest 10 year average was the period 1982-91. Could it be the quakes are hitting more populated areas?

Taipei 2/25/2000 4.6
Mohave Desert 2/25/00 4.0 and 2/22/00 4.4
Taiwan 9/20/99 7.6 and 2/8/00 4.3
Turkey 8/17/99 7.4

Various others "small" quakes and volcanic eruptions happen throughout the world that does not get our attention.

The Earth is much more than a ball floating through space. Mother Earth gave birth to all the living organisms. She houses a very precious ecosystem that man is slowly destroying. Science has discovered areas of algae/fungi along with tree root systems that spans hundreds and hundreds of acres, not to mention the living coral reefs spanning the globe...all interconnected to form one organism in their respective environments.

This interconnection is also found in the eleven very large grassland areas along with numerous wetlands, rivers and other water ways. The animals that live in these areas increase plant pollination and attract other larger animals, all the while supporting a intricate matrix of fish, amphibian and mammal life due to rich underwater vegetation. Domestic grazing of livestock, soil erosion and industrial water pollution are affecting the entire structure of the wetlands.

The mountains and oceans all over the world are home to countless species of animals. The ecosystems of the mountains have several layers from the rocky peeks to the foothills and meadows. The oceans form the largest habitat on earth and supports the greatest variety of life from microscopic organisms to sharks and whales, each relying upon the other for survival. Major deforestation in the mountains and hills, is reflected in "natural land disasters" such as washouts and mudslides directly affecting our life. Toxic waste dumping and over-fishing in the oceans is terribly upsetting the balance and can be seen in declines of fish populations and physical deformations of many plants and animals.

"Will you ever begin to understand the meaning of the very soul beneath your feet? From a grain of sand to a great mountain, all is sacred. Yesterday and tomorrow exist eternally upon this continent. We natives are guardians of this sacred place."
Peter Blue Cloud (Mohawk)

The ecological imbalances in habitats across the world are slowly being destroyed resulting in lower overall numbers of many animal species. The orangutan population has dropped 30% in the last few years, while frogs, toads and salamanders and other amphibians around the world are literally plummeting toward extinction as documented around the world. 14 species of amphibians have disappeared from Australia alone. Other countries that have recorded declines in amphibian populations are Europe, South America, Asia and Africa and the United States. Amphibians are extremely sensitive to their environment and reflect what is happening in the world’s water ways.

Explosion of mammals and insects and reptiles have marked the globe with illness, famine and deaths, impacting on the human front due to the destruction of the animals natural habitat in which its original food source was found. Animals such as wolves, cows, monkeys, lions, elephants, hippos, hyenas and various birds,  have attacked humans unexpectedly, in otherwise seemingly safe situations. Killer bees (Africanized Bees) have killed and attacked many people in the recent months. They are only reacting in nature's way which seems to be intruding upon man. The bees have nested from Brazil up to Texas (1990), traveling 300 miles (480 kms) per year, so they will become more noticeable in populated areas.

Wild animals, such as leopards, lions, cougars, tigers, coyotes, bear, deer, hyenas, monkeys, snakes are making themselves more prevalent in our surroundings, causing major disruptions to daily life. A product of man imposing on the animals territory,  in which some encounters are met with a numerous death tolls. Most animals are no longer able to forage in their diminishing habitats so they have no choice than to impose on humans. When they impose and move into "our" life, the animals face grave consequences. Already this year, there have been 3 extinctions (and perhaps more), the Spanish Ibex, the Tahr (Arabian mountain goat), and the Arabian Wolf. One of the reasons for an animal's extinction is man's greed in some way, shape or form.

Dolphins and whales continue beaching themselves on the ocean shores for unknown reasons. Some think this is related to "red tide"' in which mostly affect the fish of the region. In large doses the "red tide" algae can be deadly to sea life and very poisonous to humans. It also has been conjectured that naval sonar testing via LFAS-Low Frequency Active Sonar could also contribute and cause destruction of the sea animals ear drums causing disorientation and beaching of the animals. Turtles have also been found inexplicably dying off along with millions of fish washing up on shore. The ocean communities are in grave danger. What we do to one species in the chain of life, we inevitability do to ourselves.

"What is man without the beasts? If all the beasts were gone, men would die from great loneliness of spirit, for whatever happens to the beasts also happens to man. All things are connected. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the children of the earth."
Chief Seathl (Duwamish)

The Earth follows the natural laws put forth in the universe - man is not above this law - we are one with it. We are merely part of the whole complex ecosystem. Mother Earth is crying out for her children to listen. Many are hearing this plea. Thousands of healing prayers and meditations surrounded the earth every day. The prayers for peace, hope and healing for ALL continues everyday. Thank You!

"The salvation of mankind lies only in making everything the concern of all."
Aleksandr Isayevich Solzhenitsyn
