David Long is a resident of Stayton, Oregon and 2006 graduate of Corban College in Salem, Oregon.  He graduated with a Bachelors Degree in History with a minor in Spanish.      In the fall of 1999, David started learning Spanish from lessons that were printed in the newspaper a few years earlier.  That winter, he took a Spanish conversational class and began taking the first year of Spanish studies at Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Oregon.  After completing the first two years of Spanish studies, David took the third and fourth years at the same time.
When David arrived at Corban College in the fall of 2002, he challenged all the Spanish courses they offered by taking a hefty exam which provides credit by examination.  He scored 67 out of 71 and earned 12 semester hour credits in an hour and a half.
During his studies at Corban College, David was the president of the Spanish club all four years.  He enjoys the language as well as visiting Spanish speaking countries.  David has been to Mexico, Colombia, Chile, and Argentina.  His most recent trip to Mexico was Spring break 2008 with a group of students from Corban College.  Together they drove 1,000 miles and spent their spring break building a house for a family in need.
David started the Stayton Language Academy to help the Spanish-speaking people that live in the area that would like to learn English but don't have resources.  He hopes that the academy will provide services to the local Spanish-speaking community for years to come.
