The classes offered at the main campus of Chemeketa Community College are nine weeks because of their finals week, which makes up the ninth week. They have eight weeks of instruction. At the Stayton Language Academy. Exams are an integrated part of the learning rather than having an entire week dedicated to examination. Chemeketa has classes that are only $50, however, they are not nearly as in depth as Stayton Language academy clases. Chemeketa classes offer vocabulary and other preliminary learning. SLA offers classes for people just beginning to study English, and for more advanced students.
Students at Stayton Language Academy have 5 hours of class a week. Students at Chemeketa Community College Santiam Campus only have 4.
SLA students have an hour more in class each week than Chemeketa students as well as an additional week. In a term, SLA students receive 14 hours more class time than Chemeketa Comunity College Santiam campus students.
Payment of Tuition
Students are required to pay upfront, for classes. Stayton Language Academy accepts payment by personal check and money order. For security purposes, Stayton Language Academy does not prefer cash payments, if possible. SLA also does not accept debit card payments or credit card payments.
Close of registration
Registration closes at the end of the second week of class. The reason for the close of registration is to assure the students have a chance to learn all the class material. It is difficult for a person to suceed in a class when he or she enters late. Exceptions may be made, at the instructor's discretion. To request an excpetion to be made for a person to join a class late the student needs to get permission from the instuctor.
Dropping Classes & Refunds
Friday of the third week of class is the last day to drop a class and still recieve a refund. If a person withdraws from a class after the last day to be allowed to withdraw and still receive a tuition refund, a refund WILL NOT be given. See the academic calendar to know important dates in each term.
Upon registering for classes each person signs an agreement that states all these policies. The statement says he or she has been informed of the policies and conditions of Stayton Language Academy and agrees to them.
At Stayton Language Academy, a person learns:
