Shanghai
part II
At the Shanghai Museum, we were treated to a taste of Chinese history.  Housing relics from all over China, this museum was very informative and a pleasure to walk through
We were also fortunate enough to go to the museum while two great works of art were on display:
Monet's "Waterlilies" &
Van Gogh's "Haystacks"
On the same day, we visited the Jade Buddha Temple and the Children's Palace.  The temple was extremely crowded, but it was very beautiful.  At the Children's Palace, we saw chidren perform acrobatics, traditional Chinese music, and a piece on the piano.
Needing a break from the city, we decided to go to the Shanghai Botanical Gardens.  Some parts of these gardens were beautiful, especially the indoor area, the water plants, and the penjing (bonsai) gardens.  Unfortunately, other areas could have used a little work.  We were very surprised that there were so few people enjoying the peace and quiet that the gardens supplied more than adequately.
