For a number of years I was privaleged to be USAID's project manager for projects with the National Academy of Science's Board on Science and Technology for International Development. The Humanities Development Libary has posted a number of books developed under that project, making them available for free downloading. Most deal with under-exploited technologies with potential economic value for developing nations. The series was published in the 1980's and early 1990's but many of the reports contain material that is still relevant.
