Dad grew up in Washington, D.C., attended Coolidge High School and signed to play pro ball right out of high school. He scouted for a number of years also worked as a Montgomery County Police Officer. At the time of his death in 1974 at the age of 45 he was employed at Lustine Chevrolet.
