Welcome to our homepage. There are five of us living on a farm in the hills of West (by god) Virginia. We raise beef cattle and goats. We also have 28 sheep, 5 cats, 4 dogs, 2 pigs, a pony, a donkey, chickens, and goldfish. This web site is dedicated to helping our friends and family keep in touch with our lives. And we hope to provide information to others about our animals.

We are also a homeschooling family. My husband, John, and I teach our 3 sons at home. Our oldest, John Paul, is 12. Bob is 10. And Frank is 7. They have always homeschooled.

John Paul is active in 4-H. This is an organization geared toward farm children similar to Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. He loves to go to camp.

Bob is also in 4H. He is the one of us most interested in goats. He has 40 nannies. And in spring of 2001, he had over 50 new kids.

Frank is our "pig man". He has loved pigs for years. In August 2000, he got several Tamworth pigs. These are a red pig. They are an old timey farm breed that do well on pasture, but not in those big pig operations. They are a dying breed.

John raises our beef cattle. We send off a few loads to feedlots out west every fall. We also winter some here on our farm. And John puts up quite a bit of hay every summer while keeping a few hundred head on grass. He runs a 3 man operation single handed. And is also one of the last of a dying breed-- the full time farmer.

All my life I wanted to be a mom and a writer. I am one of the lucky ones, whose dreams have come true. Becoming a mother was the best thing that ever happened to me. And in spring 2001, I began a career as a freelance writer. I currently work for the local paper. I am also trying to get some magazine articles published.

I hope to work on this web site this summer, 2001. There are links I would like to add. And pictures that I want to add of our more current activities. So check back.
