Victor Garber, "Alias" Where you may have seen him: As the doomed designer of "Titanic," Syd Luft in "Life with Judy Garland" and the star of numerous Broadway shows such as "Sweeney Todd" and "Damn Yankees." As the father and colleague of Jennifer Garner's slinky superspy, Garber represents a singular study in contrasts. He has a bruiser's big frame but soft features and an even softer, cultured delivery. Even when he's breaking someone's arm to get a confession out of them, he doesn't raise his voice or break a sweat; this could just be a detour on the way to the opera for him. He's impossible to read, which makes him a perfect double agent, and impossible to ignore whenever he's on-screen. As terrific as Garner looks kicking butt in all those wigs and designer gowns, she doesn't have half of Garber's screen presence, nor his unflappable demeanor. (She often looks too frightened or bewildered to be in this line of work.) And his character's backstory and conflicts would provide just as much dramatic meat, if not moreso, for an ongoing series focused on him.
