Goals and Opinions

Opinions
My opinions on AI is mixed, one one hand I believe that an intelligence can be created I keep coming back to the conclusion that this "AI" is just code that the computer follows. Humans write the code just like any other program that doesn't have this supposed Artificial Intelligence.

Also there is no clear definition of AI yet, there is not even a definite definition of intelligence. We don't even know what intelligence is, how can we create it if we don't know what it is? It seems that we're getting somewhere while just walking down an endless road.

The human brain consists of 10 to 100 billion neurons, each of which is connected to between 10 and 10,000 others through synapses. Compared to a microprocessor a brain cell is very slow, and processors are being upgraded every day, at the beginning of June a 2Ghz processor was the fastest available, now the fastest available is 3.2 Ghz. Within 5 months processors have increased a extra 1000Hz. If we ever create AI computers could be up to hundreds of times faster than humans, and do we really want that?

I believe that AI is a bunch of code written by a human that a computer follows. This is exactly the same as a human being. Humans are given conditions such as if somebody says hi. When we hear this we go through several steps:

    • Do I know this person?
    • Do I like this person?
    • How do I reply?
    • reply

AI Goals
The main and the probable eventual goal of AI is to create a machine that shows qualities of a human being. Of course it will be decades before we see this feat accomplished. With steps such as making a computer understand natural languages, vision, emotions and neural networks are far off perfect.

At the moment the goals are to create AI one step at a time, several research teams are working to create their own part of AI, and maybe one day they will all come together and put their part in to create what we call AI.

Some of these research teams are:

Goals at the moment should be to create AI that will help the disabled, this should be the most the top research priority, and hopefully on the way to creating AI for the disabled ideas will arise to create more complex parts of this enigma.

If you'd ask me when we will see a full working replica of a human - I'd say "expect great things within the next 3 decades"
