My EOG

Well, it was close for a while there, but Germany pips Turkey to the post.  I thought we might have two getting to 18 centres at the same time, but in the end France’s centres helped Germany to finish it off.

I’ll leave the game analysis to you guys, but I am glad that we had such consistency for the latter years of the game.  Thanks everyone for playing, and I’d appreciate EOG statements from as many people as possible.

Luis’ EOG

I took control of Italy at its apogee, with 8 centers but no actual ally (Russia and Austria were apparently the most favorable but they were confronted to each other). The first mail I got was from Germany, he said that he was going to cut my support to Marseilles to keep high the French anti-British moral. So I offered Russia an unconditional support in Munich, he didn't need to reply. But, as he never replied, I ignored my own unilateral promise and wasted A Swi supporting Marseilles. This was the greatest error, because Russia and Italy lost a huge chance there: Russia in Munich would have kept Germany bussy for a while and would have given him a temporary center to recover from his difficult situation of war in all fronts. I told Russia I was very sorry and that we would both lament that failure of communication.

I found Carleton in Britain, a player I would be sharing two other games with more or less at the same time but a player I find difficult to communicate with. With F-G against Italy he was my necessary ally but our coordination was low. He also ignored my pleas of helping Russia despite his bad situation.

In 1905, I was still in 8 centers despite the many troubles I had to face fighting G-F and T. Some wrong guesses in the East had displaced me from the Eastern Med but I was confident I could keep my position unless Austria attacked.

And in the Spring of 1906, Austria attacked. I protested emphatically that was against his interests, that he would never be able to keep such a streched out empire, the he couldn't trust Germany or Turkey at all, that he was giving victory to Germany... all in vain. Two years later Italy was out (and Russia too) and Austria started suffering the consequences of his error as I had predicted. It seemed like France had swapped sides and was determined to attack Germany but it doesn't seem that has served for anything. Germany won.
